Shade was one of, if not the only woman that welcomed the foreigners into her home. She was about three months in with Hye Soo when they came. They were strange looking to others and worse, their English was not so clear but they were in a Yoruba land. Shade taught them how to talk to people. They found out she was literate but had fallen into the trap of a man who got her pregnant and married another. She had taught them to eat and live in Nigeria
Evangelist Mr and Mrs Kim would not have been able to evangelise in Apata village if Shade wasn't there.
When Shade learnt of their mission, she too confessed of how she has always wanted to follow GOD. Her greatest regret and sin that was holding her back, she says, is the fact that she was a pregnant unmarried woman- a fornicator to be exact. Mr and Mrs Kim were able to help her by the grace of GOD. She rededicated her life to GOD and lived for him. Shade taught Mrs Kim how to buy and sell products. They had constant support from their sponsors in Korea.
They were able to draw women to give up their all for GOD. Most of the Yoruba speaking women only trusted the Kims because Shade trusted them. Shade was well known so whoever she spoke to must have had a good intention if not Shade disconnected herself. The night of her delivery came. The church the Kims had set up was the labour room, the midwives were the women in the church. The men gathered to pray for Shade's safe delivery. Shade had done her best- she delivered safely but she lost blood, bleeding throughout the whole process.
"I can see light and a big beautiful gste opening", Mrs Kim recounts Dhade saying looking up to the ceiling.
"You will not die, Shade. Please tell GOD to wait. You have to take care of your baby", Iya Kunle said. She was closest to the Kims almost as Shade was. Mrs Kim had walked up to Shade with the baby girl in her arms. Shade smiled up at them. She carried the baby from Mrs Kim and looked st her. She had already say up.
"She is so beautiful", Shade said cuddling the baby who was fast asleep.
"Just like her mither", Mrs Kim said. Shade handed the baby to Mrs Kim and laud down again. Other women had surrounded her now
