"Hey, brother." I said, greeting Lin.
He called and asked to meet with me to talk.
"Hey!" he gave me a big hug before sitting down.
"So, what is it you wanted to talk about?"
"I have been writing a show,"
"Yeah. I've heard some of the rap. It was sounding good, brother."
"Well, it's finally completed!"
"Really!?"
"Yes," He paused while our coffee arrived. "I'm calling it Hamilton. As you know, the musical is based on Alexander Hamilton."
"Yes. Remember, I helped write." I teased.
"I am going to start casting soon," He gave me a look and smerked.
"What?" I laughed. "What?!"
"I want you to play Angelica,"
"Whaaaaaat?"
"Wait a second. Before you-"
"I am NOT a good singer, Lin."
"Yes you are. Please. Let's go to the studio, try one of her songs. Give it 20 measures."
It took me a second to say anything.
"Alright, fine. Only because you are my brother."
"Great!"

We arrived at the empty studio.
"Who are some of the other characters?"
"Well, my personal favorite, King George III is hopefully going to be played by the lovely Jonathan Groff."
"My best friend?"
"Yeah,"
"Awesome. Who else?"
"Leslie Odom Jr as Burr. And maybe Daveed Diggs as Lafeyette and Thomas Jefferson. He has a playful personality,"
"Who's that?"
"Who? Leslie?"
"No, Daveed. I feel like I have heard his name before,"
"He's my friend that I traveled a few times with to do some freestyle rap,"
"Oh yeah,"
"I think I'm going to be Hamilton."
"That should be fun," I teased.
"Yeah I know. Ok, try this part." He said. "I promise, I won't say anything."
"Lin, I'm not so sure about-"
"Please. You said you would. Plus, it's rap. It is easy,"
"Ok, ok."
I looked and studied the song for a minute. The song was named Satisfied.
"Here it goes," I rapped these lyrics.
I remember that night, I just might
Regret that night for the rest of my days
I remember those soldier boys
Tripping over themselves to win our praise
I remember that dreamlike candlelight
Like a dream that you can't quite place
But Alexander, I'll never forget the first
Time I saw your face
I have never been the same
Intelligent eyes in a hunger-pang frame
And when you said "Hi," I forgot my dang name
Set my heart aflame, ev'ry part aflame
This is not a game...
"So?"
Lin looked at me in disbelief.
"Wow-"
"What?"
"You're voice is amazing. You have really improved, sis."
"Is this what the song actually sounds like?"
"No, I'll change a few notes. But you'll be able to pull it off. Do you think you can do simple dance movements?"
"Sure,"
"And I know you are an amazing actress,"
"Well thank you,"
"I'm going to officially cast you as Angelica Schuyler."
"Although, I must say,"
"What?"
"It is kind of weird, as your sister, playing a character that is in love with you."
"I know," He gave the brightest smile, "Good news is, you don't have to kiss me,"
I laughed along with him.
"It was really good to see you," I smile.
"Feelings be mutual," He pulled me in for a hug. "It's been too long."
"When's the first rehearsal?"
"Thursday at 1 p.m."
"Nice. I'll see you there,"
I have him another hug before I left. Lin has the brightest smile and the most gentle voice and the best personality.
I got in my car and drove home. I didn't stop thinking about the first rehearsal, and got real nervous.
