Vampire Heart
Chapter #1 The first bite...
One crisp cool autumn morning, as the golden leaves blew in the afternoon breeze, a girl walked alone on the stone path which lead into the forest. The forest was filled with tall trees that seemed to hide the sunny sky. The smell of autumn everywhere. The leaves being blown off the trees, it almost seemed it was raining leaves. Caroline Roze walked through the mysterious forest. She was on her way home from another tiring day at school. The cold was no bother to her at all. Caroline was a kind and carefree girl. She was stubborn at sometimes, but she took great care of her friends and family. As she walked to a fork in the road, she took a turn left. Soon she reached her neighborhood. It was a quiet place. Her house stood at the end of the block. It was big. A stone hedge surrounded the entire place. The house itself was made of black stone. It looked almost like a old antique home. The gate in the front had rose vines that climbed up the thin bars. She walked around the big fountain up front and knocked on the door. Her Nanny opened the door for her. She was dressed in a black dress and an apron on.
“Oh! Caroline! You’re home! Wonderful! Come in, I just was on my way to the kitchen to bake some brownies for tonight’s party. Everyone will be there! The Bara’s shall be here. Oh! And don’t forget to get a fitting for your dress!” She exclaimed in a cheery way. Caroline sighed.
“Yes, ma’am. I know. Excuse me. I’m going to my room now.” She walked up the stairs and down the hall to her room. Caroline quietly closed the door behind her. She walked over to a picture frame. “I’m home, mom, dad.” She whispered quietly to the photo. Caroline was an only child. Her parents had died in an accident when the three of them were returning from a funeral of her friend’s. She was only 4 then. Surprisingly, she had survived. Her Uncle, Evan Roze took her in. He let her attend Rozenburg Academy. Since his wife had died and he was always so busy, he hired a nanny and a few maids and butlers to take care of her. Caroline lied on her bed and stared at the ceiling. It was getting darker and darker outside as clouds piled together. Soon it was pouring rain and thundering.
“Caroline! Get out of bed NOW! It’s time for your fitting! C’mon now!” Nanny yelled as she dragged Caroline out of bed.
“Ok! Ok! I’m coming! Hold on!” Caroline complained. Nanny let go of her and walked out. Caroline changed into a white dress and went down the hall to the clothing closet. Her nanny and a few maids were there. They were busily grabbing dresses and shoes from every rack and shelf.
“Oh! Miss! How would you like this?!” One maid asked as they spotted Caroline.
“Oh no! Miss!! This! This would certainly catch the attention of one of the gentleman from one of those families!” A maid held up a black strap dress. It had a red rose on the top right corner of it and white lace lining the bottom. Caroline looked around.
“I-I don’t know. Um...let me look myself first.” Caroline walked down the long hall of what seemed like a never-ending rack of dresses. Why does Uncle always have so many dark colored clothing? She stopped and looked through a section. “Um...how about this one?” Caroline took off a strapless black dress. It had a red band around the waist and a red rose on the hip. It sparkled too. Lace lining was on the bottom of the shirt and the collar.
“Wonderful choice, Miss! Let’s try it on!” A maid shouted happily. They pulled Caroline over to a platform in front of the mirror. Caroline slipped on the dress carefully on. The maids did a little fixing on the dress. They asked Caroline if it felt alright.
“Perfect! There! Now it’s done! Oh! We just simply can’t wait to do your hair later! You’ll be the catch of the party!” One maid exclaimed.
