"Good morning brother," I said through the phone.
"Ready for rehearsal?"
"As I'll ever be. You promise Jonathan will be there?"
"Promise," he reassured.
Jonathan has helped me for years through traumatic events. He has always been there for me. He especially helped me through the problems I had with my father. My father is a racist and he hated me. He resents me because he blames me for our sister's death in a drive by shooting. Said that "the next time I see your face, I'll kill you." I've learned to move past that by moving to New York with my brother.
I hung up with Lin and got ready for rehearsal. I just wore a simple leggings, converse, t shirt outfit. I put my hair up in a ponytail and rushed out the door with my keys.
When I got there, there were already a few people there, including Jonathan.
"Jono!" I said.
"Care!" He squeaked.
We hugged and sparked a conversation, excited to see each other.
"So, ready for rehearsal?"
"I heard the first day is always a settling in and getting to know each other thing." I said.
"Thank god. I really hope so," He said. "I am tired and hungry."
Other people started to enter the room. I saw Lin and Daveed enter together. They looked as if they were talking.
"Hello everyone!" Lin greeted with a warm smile. "Today we are settling in,"
"Told you," I whispered to Groff.
Daveed came up and stood next to me before I could join Lin.
"Hey. Haven't seen you in awhile Mini-Miranda," He knows I hate it when he calls me that.
"Nice to see you too, David." He hates it when I call him David.
He gave a little chuckle and walked aside me whenever we went to the rooms. Same with Jonathan.
"Jonathan, Caroline, Phillipa, Renee, Jazzy, Anthony, Leslie and Daveed," Lin said. "Floor Two,"
I glanced at Lin and he gave me a smirk. Whenever everyone was assigned groups, I approached Lin.
"What were you thinking?" I said, smiling. "You know I can't stand him," truth was, I have a little tiny crush on him, but I've learned to push it down and try to make it seem like I hate him.
"I did this on purpose. That's also why I sat you with Jonathan and Phillipa. No exchanges," He smiled. "You can handle him."
I walked up the stairs to the floor. Daveed was following close behind with Jonathan following him.
"Do you really have to show so much hostility towards me?" He said, laughing.
"No," I said. "I just want to."
"Why do you hate me," He said.
"Guess we'll find out,"
There's actually no reason to hate him. He is sweet, caring and loyal. I just don't want to see that in him I guess. I feel like I would be betraying Lin.
"Mini-Miranda," Daveed said.
"Yes, David?" I saw him cringe at the name.
"Nevermind,"
"Fine."
Jonathan sat his stuff in his room than came into my room, Daveed did the same.
"So you are King George III, huh?" I said.
"Hell yeah! I'll be the best King George III out there!" He joked.
"No doubts, you have an amazing voice,"
"Want to play a game?" Said Jono.
"Like?" I said.
"I don't know. Truth or dare?"
"That's a childish game," I said.
"I'm in," Said Daveed.
Of course he was, anything I didn't want to do, he did.
"Fine," I caved in. "You go first Mr. Funny," I said to Jonathan.
"Ok fine. Caroline, Truth or Dare?"
"Truth,"
"Oh come on," Daveed said. "Live a little,"
"Ok..." I sat down on the floor with them. "Dare."
"I dare you to," Jonathan paused to think. "Switch shirts with Daveed."
I rolled my eyes and stood up. Daveed did the same. I turned my stomach to the wall and faced my back towards them. I took off my shirt to reveal a sports bra and handed it to Daveed. Good thing I was wearing a plain white over-sized shirt. He gave me his shirt, which was just a grey shirt with a few designs. Daveed and I both sat back down, recreating the circle.
"Daveed, truth or dare?"
"Dare,"
"I dare you to give Jono a piggy-back ride around the room." I said.
"Alright,"
He gestured for Jonathan to get on his back.
"I don't know if he can carry me," he laughed.
"Probably not," I laughed back.
"Can to,"
Jonathan jumped on Daveed's back and Daveed obeyed my dare. When they got back, Daveed was breathing heavily and took a seat.
"Ok. Jonathan,"
"Yes?"
"Truth or dare?"
"Truth,"
"Ok," Daveed paused to think. "Is it true that water is wet?"
"Water is not wet! But it isn't dry either. Water is water."
"Boom!" I said. "Ended that debate,"
"Daveed," Jonathan said. "Truth or dare,"
"Um..." He paused to think for a second. "Dare."
"I dare you to make out with Caroline," He laughed.
"What, really?" He said with a hint of panic.
I gave Jonathan a playful punch as he continues to laugh.
"Come on do it," Jonathan encouraged.
"Her brother will kill me,"
"I TRIPLE DOG DARE YOU!" He says.
"Oh man," I said. "Can't back down from that,"
"Caroline!" I heard Lin call from below us.
"Coming!" I said, getting up. Daveed did the same. "Sorry boys, brother is calling."
I started to walk out of the room, but then Daveed grabbed my arm and spun me around to face him.
"I don't back down from a dare," He said gently. He smiled and then pressed his lips against mine. I let the kiss happen for over 20 seconds. It felt great, but I had to pull away.
"Are you coming, Caroline!" Lin called again.
I slowly pulled back and looked at Daveed's eyes. His hands were still settled on both my cheeks, which were red from blushing. I gently pulled his hands away.
"I got to go," I saw a hint of disappointment in his eyes before I left.
"OOOooooo!" I heard Jonathan tease Daveed as I left.
