I started my journey in the seventh grade, with high hopes to get better.  Of course I started on the "B" team, but at the time I thought it was ok because it was the first sport I joined since I moved to this new school.
I knew no one on this team which I find embarrassing because it was a small school and we were already three months into the school year.  But everyone else knew each other so I had a hard time finding a partner when I needed one.
At this school the seventh and the eighth graders practiced together.  Each grade got one half of the gym to practice, but sometimes at the end of practice we would scrimmage the eighth graders.  The same thing happened when I turned into one of the all mighty eighth graders.
But the next year I turned into one of the top dogs and now I had a new role.  I was now semi part of the "A" team, and the "leader" of the "B" team.  The "A" team was a lot harder than I thought when I actually got to play in the game with them.
But I absolutely loved the "B" team.  Mostly because I convinced most of my closest friends to join this "rough" and "aggressive" sport on the off season (volleyball).  It was true, how vicious this sport could be, but how didn't they find the fun in shoving people around in frount of everyone in the stands, and everyone is ok with it.  Then when you get pushed, and the refs see it, your team gets the advantage.
Defence was my real game.  I haven't gotten a single foul on anyone.  I should've gotten gold stars but I was only good at defence and everyone knew that.  It was sort of a given for me.  That's how I got the nickname, Wheels.  My coach called me Wheels in seventh grade because I was the only one not tired when I got subbed in.
I wasn't tired because I sat on the bench the whole game.  So I had enough energy to sprint down the cort and "stop ball" while the person I subbed in for is taking her little break on the bench.  In seventh grade I only went in for the extra ten minute game at the end of the real game; that was where I was superior.  Because I was the best on the "B" team like I said before.
Then shooting the ball is my second favorite part.  If it goes in of course.  Which was always a struggle for me.  That's probably why I was never starting the "A" team.
At the end of the eighth grade season we had the choice of "moving up."  Which basically meant we could practice and play with the high schoolers.  Out of the twelve kids on the team only four of us moved up.  And as you can guess the other three where the best on the "A" team, and I barely got to play with them.
But when I move up to the high schoolers I became really close to these three other kids in my grade.  As well as the high schoolers them selves.
On the first day of practice I was shy like every other time I start a foreign event.  But it got better and soon almost all the high schoolers started talking to me.
I joined this team to get better so at the very least I would be working with the freshmen.  Little did I know I would be getting one of their jerseys.
We had three "teams."  The varsity, junior varsity, and the C team.  And I'm sure you can guess what team I was on.
Only one of us eighth graders got to actually be on the team though.  It was really unfair.  But none the less I got to play.  For thirty seconds a game.  My parents were not happy, and I dont see why they should be.

PS: If you looked at the picture on top... I made it in.  Go me!!  I was in eighth grade, #11.  I only made five points that season.  I got better, I swear.
