I couldn't deal with it anymore. Myself alone with my many feelings cooped up in a ball inside my room in a Chicago orphanage. It didn't used to be that way though. Up until the fire happened I was a happy and content girl from New Jersey who jumped off her piano bench and screamed she's Asian. Here I have no friends, well I have Internet friends, but still. You might be wondering how an Asian girl from New Jersey ended up in a Chicago orphanage. Well it's simple. My name is Ashley Princiaki and I'm eleven. I lived in New Jersey my whole life up until last month when my dads job had made us move to Chicago. I mean I was fine with that, this is where Phillipa Soo grew up and my favorite Hamilton cast is. Hamilton is my favorite musical, I remember hearing about it when I was young and Lin was rapping the opening number at the White House. I first listened to the musical last January and became obsessed. I went to see it on Broadway last July , but I haven't been satisfied. Last year, I discovered the new Chicago company of the show and it is my favorite company by far. Every week, Ebrin R. Stanley (Hercules Mulligan/ James Madison) and Jamaal Fields-Green (John Laurens/ Phillip Hamilton) go live on their respective Instagram accounts. So, every Sunday at 1:30 and every Thursday at 7 I take out my sketchbook and while watching their lives, I draw the company of Ham Chi. When we moved to Chicago, I had finished all my drawings and I found out that we were going to be seeing HamChi in February. Well, we won't be seeing the show next month. There was a fire while I was off at school and I had come home to find my family dead. So, now I'm in this orphanage listening to It's Quiet Uptown and trying to figure out if I should go or stay. I decide the latter. I gather up my art and belongings and dash out into the cold Monday night Chicago wind. I keep running till I find the CIBC theatre. I park myself in the center of the alley behind the theatre and try to breathe. Then, I lay down and go to sleep.
