Ice and Defenders- Book 2 of the Frostbite Series

Avengers Assemble

We stood up once the flames disappeared. I dropped my wall of ice and the seven of us circled around with our backs to each other as Chitauri cried out in anger. 

I looked up and was distraught to see more beasts flying down from the wormhole. 

"You got to be kidding me." I grabbed the two blade handles and let blades of ice extend out. 

"Call it, Cap." Tony said. 

"Alright, listen up." Steve started. "Until we can close that portal our priority is containment.
Barton, I want you on that roof, eyes on everything. Call out patterns and strays. Stark, you're on perimeter. Anything that gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back or turn it to ash." 

Clint looked at Tony. "Wanna give me a lift?" 

"Better clench up, Legolas." Tony walked over, took Clint and lifted him up into the air. 

"Ellie, you get perimeter too." Steve looked to me. "Skate around and take out every Chitauri that you can or send it toward Tony." 

"Got it." I nodded and tapped my heel before skating off.

I skated with my arms out ready to strike out any Chitauri. After a few kills, I put one blade away and left one hand free to shoot projectiles. My feet were spreading the ice below me. Above me, Hulk was jumping from building to building, and I couldn't help but laugh, he looked like he was having the time of his life. I looked back forward and saw a group of Chitauri, one of them picked up a cab and threw it at me.

"Woah!" I rolled to the side and stood up to throw projectiles.

Plasma was shot at me and I skated behind a car, getting out my gun. I peaked out and began shooting until there was one Chitauri left. I skated out and headed full speed towards the creature, dodging plasma, then once I was close enough, I jumped up, swung my leg out, and sliced the Chitauri's neck with my skate blade. Blue substance splattered out from its neck as it fell to the ground, some of it was on my cheek. 

"Awe, that's gross." I wiped it on my sleeve and continued skating the perimeter.

Thunder crashed and I looked up to see lighting touching the needle of the Empire State Building, which was probably the cause of Thor. The lightning forked out and reached the portal, electrocuting Chitauri soldiers and flying beasts.

"Hey, Ellie, I'm bringing some to you." Tony spoke in my earpiece. 

"Nuh uh, it's my job to bring them to you." I replied. 

"It's too late, they RSVP'd and they are really wanting to chill with you." He said. 

"Hm, I guess it could be a little fun." I looked up to watch Tony come around a corner with Chitauri following. I threw my hand upwards, a ball of ice formed from my hand hit the first Chitauri in line, blowing him back and hitting the rest behind him, then they crashed to the ground and blew up.

"Nice work, ice queen." Tony said.

"Thanks."

I killed more Chitauri, but it still wasn't enough, they weren't going to stop coming from the wormhole. I turned down a street to make my way back to where we all assembled, while still staying on the perimeter to chase Chitauri, or have them chase me, back into the city.
A large Chitauri beast was ahead of me, it didn't see me, so I kept at a close distance, contemplating an idea that I had. Did I have enough power for this? As I skated closer and closer to the beast, I found myself at its tail.

"Oh, what the hell." I muttered and jumped up grabbing the tail and tapping my heel before climbing up it's back.

After each step I took, a patch of ice would form under my foot for better grip, and the ice would continue spreading across the beast.
