"Darlight! Wake up!" Ace shouted at her friend as she happily jumped up and down in excitement.
The grey-haired female grumbled as she rolled out of her comfortable bed, her blue and yellow eyes sending a weak glare at her hyper friend. Ace quickly ran out, letting the female get ready for the day to come.
After a few cusses and hair pulling moments, the grey-haired female finally stepped outside the small wooden cabin that she called home. She was quickly greeted by Ace, whose hair was tied back messily. She gives Darlight a bright and friendly smile as she grabs her scarred hand, pulling her friend towards the stone gates that Darlight set up a few years back. By now they were growing mold and were showing a few cracks.
"Buttons!" Ace called out, waving around the hand that wasn't tugging along the stumbling female behind her. The male who Ace just called Buttons looked up confusedly as he stared at the grey female with interest.
Ace quickly stopped in front of the gates, pulling Dawn upwards, making her stand straight up with an annoyed face plastered onto her features.
"Hey," was all Darlight spoke as she stared down at the newcomer. "What exactly are you doing here, hm? The gates don't open up for travelers for another hour," She spoke harshly, her heterochromia eyes holding no emotion as she stared down the stranger.
"I know that," the male stammered out, his hands waving around with alarm. All he wanted was a peaceful conversation, not some showdown or fight.
"Buttons here wanted to join our small area, Darlight," Ace explained, semi-facing her comrade and the brown haired male.
"Hmph," the female spoke, her eyes dulling within deep thought. "Fine."
"What?" Buttons responded, his eyes widening with surprise.
Darlight opens the gate quickly, before turning to face the brown haired male.
"You heard me," Darlight mumbles, closing the gate as Buttons entered into the small closed off area. Ace was smiling mischievously as she suddenly spoke up.
"Buttons told me he wanted to be a guard here, and I thought it'll be nice to build a few things to help him settle in, expand our area," she proposed, a smirk planted onto her lips.
Buttons quickly went pale and started wildly throwing his hands about in a submissive demeanor. "No! That can wait, I don't really want to push my luck here!" He exclaimed.
"Nonsense! I'm sure as long as you help us build Darlight wouldn't mind it!" Ace responded, wrapping an arm around Darlight's neck. "Now with that being said, I need to make sure we're getting money, so I'll let you two discuss plans while I man the shop."
Ace quickly ran off, opening a second gate to let in travelers before she then ran to open up the only shop in the area. Before entering though she made sure to give her new friend and Darlight two thumbs up with a bright and friendly smile planted on her face.
Darlight turned to face Buttons before motioning for him to follow. Soon enough the came upon a small cabin. Inside of it was a bed, a small kitchen, and a table with two seats.
Sitting down, Darlight motioned for Buttons to do the same, as it was clear he was nervous and maybe slightly afraid of the taller female.
"This is where you'll be staying until we can build a much better house. As for your job of being a guard here that'll take awhile. We don't have much money to spare to pay you quite yet, but I'm sure we can find something. While we're on the topic of you being a guard, what experience do you have and why did you choose this place?" Darlight questioned, her eyes boring into the timid male's figure.
As he barely lifted his face for his green eyes to meet her blue and yellow ones, he gulped.
"I chose this place because it seemed as if you guys needed the help. I've heard from my cousin that this place is often unprotected and is very small, yet well known. I'd rather keep this place a number one spot on most peoples visit wish list so everyone living here can continue living in peace and quietness. I don't know much about guarding, but I'm pretty good with a sword, along with bow and arrows!" He exclaimed happily, his bright green eyes lighting up.
"Alright, you're in. I'll start building a tower for you along with a training area. I hope you don't mind me training you while you live here, right now I'm the only one who can fight and keep off robbers," Darlight states before walking away.
"If you need anything you can come get me, I'm the main supplier here, and if I don't have it then you know where to find Ace," Darlight stated before closing the door, leaving Buttons with his own thoughts.
