Chapter 1

Cordelia

The sun shining with no clouds, nothing but a perfectly good blue sky. The woods greener as ever, the sunlight radiating of it. Truthfully, I wish I was outside right now to roam the nature that is calling my name. But I'm just sitting by my window and looking outside, sadly.

"Cordelia James, come downstairs right now!" My mother shouted, interrupting my thoughts.

I looked away from the window and shouted "coming mom". It was a Monday morning, that means its school time. It was certainly 6:30am and school doesn't start till 7:15 which really sucks, why can't school start a little later? I gathered all my things and start headed downstairs into the kitchen.

"Okay honey, breakfast is on the stove I got to go wake your sister up, oh and your father is waiting in the car already" mom said. I nodded as I approached her. I grabbed my breakfast "Thanks mom for the breakfast", picked up my book bag that that was left by the dining table and headed outside. As I was heading towards my dads car, I heard screaming from inside the house. "Mom I don't want to go to school! Cant I just stay home for once?" I heard my sister yell. My dad chuckled obviously heard the screaming from the car. "Now that is something different today" I murmured to myself. Usually my sister, Leslie, would never scream that loud in the morning.

I opened the passenger seat, and turned the radio on. He started the car and we started head our way to my school River high school .My dad is not much of a talker, but neither am I, so anytime he drives me to school it was a routine of me just turning the radio and jam out on the music. When we arrived at the front of the school , I turned to my dad and kissed him on the cheek "Have a good day dad". He smiled and said "Pumpkin, I forgot to tell you me and your mother are going to be late tonight,  my boss is having a party about some 'big announcement', I left you some money on the table in the living room, order some food for you and your sister".

I smiled and nodded "Just be careful tonight and later you have to tell me what the announcement is".

"Don't worry honey, I think you worry about me and your mom more than we worry about you" he chuckled. I rolled my eyes and opened the passenger door. All of a sudden my two best friends Layla and Carly appeared by the passenger door. "Hey Mr. James" they yelled together and waved.

"Hey girls, you guys have a good day today". We all laughed, I closed the door and my dad drove away to work. We all started headed into the school until Carly spoke up "You guys heard that Ryder is having a party on Friday, we should definitely go and let loose."

"I think that is an awesome idea, what do you think Cordelia?" To be honest I'm not the party type of girl. But, it is my senior year in high school and I would want to let loose before the school ends. "Yeah why not" I said. Both Carly and Layla squealed in excitement.

"Okay, okay tomorrow after school we have to go to the mall to pick out an outfit for the party" Layla said. We started walking up to my AP US history, my favorite subject of all time. "Can we just talk about it later? Like the bell is about to ring for class and I really wanna settle in".

Layla and Carly agreed and walked away to get to their class. I walked in to class and I saw my friend Harden, I smiled and waved at him and he waved back. I took a seat next to him, taking out my books for the class. Me and Harden met last year when he was in my French class, I guess you could say we clicked right away because now he is like a brother to me and I know I could count on him. "Y'all heard about the Ryder party this Friday night?" someone yelled at the back. I turned to Harden and said " You gonna go to the party?"

"Maybe, why the famous Cordelia is going to party?"

I punched his arm lightly, he yelped and gave me the puppy dog eyes "That wasn't very nice of you".

"Oh why do you have to be such drama queen Harden?" As I said that the teacher walked in "Good morning class, today we  will have a discussion about monarchy, a slightly different topic of what we learn. So on the news lately there has been some negotiations going on between the Americans and United Kingdom. The king addressed a speech and we would be focusing on that". Everyone groaned in the room because its boring just listening to speeches cause like they take forever to get to the point. Mr. Burnett set up the video of the King's speech and started playing.

" As of now Great Britain and the United States are coming into an agreement... blah blah blah"  I  stopped listening and spaced out. However, when I looked at the screen there were three people. The King, the Queen ,and the Prince. They all looked so dashing, but what caught my attention was the Prince who was standing there with no emotion on his face. Ill tell you he is something to look at. His jaw is sharp, like if you touched it you probably cut your finger, high check bones, such beautiful gray eyes and midnight hair.

"Oh your so making goggly eyes at the prince" Harden whispered.

"Shut up" I blushed about the comment. "I just never seen someone just like him a handsome prince whose successful and you could literally see the power radiating off him." Plus who wouldn't be making goggly eyes at the prince he is handsome and so muscular, nothing that you see here in New York really.

"Hey! Im better looking then him".

"In your dreams, Harden" I rolled my eyes at his comment. For the rest of the class period I just kept looking at the prince, wondering what it will be like to meet him one day. Who am I kidding why would a prince wanna meet an ordinary girl like me, who's trying to focus on her career.
