"What do you mean you're cancelling?" Joshua McEvans or as his friends call him; Josh, drove furiously in the busy street. "I got up at 5 in the morning for nothing?" He raged at the assistant that was on the other line.

"I'm sorry sir, but Willow Records thinks you don't meet the requirements to be officially signed as an artist. You don't have the experience." The woman on the phone gently said.

"Bullshit! This is Bullshit! What do you expect? That an experienced artist will just fallout from the sky?" He almost didn't hear the honks of the cars behind him. He pulled over, closed his eyes and sighed. "Okay." He said. "That's why you apply to be signed because you want to experience being signed and be able to work with an awesome company right?" He opened his eyes and got out of his car.

"That won't change a thing sir. The interview is cancelled." The woman concluded and hang up.

"Fuck you motherfu-" He was about to slam his phone to the ground when he glanced on an ad in the newspaper which was on the floor.

Auditions for The Next Big Star closes today at 17:00. Please read further for more details.

"This is it!" He thought. He was confident to be a contestant and win the show. He won 6 amateur contests and never lost in one so why would he waste the chance? He picked the paper up and hurriedly hailed for a taxi since there was a heavy traffic but he failed. He decided to run as fast as he could since the venue was just a few blocks away.

He was sweating bullets when he finally arrived. He crouched, put his hands on his knees and tried to catch his breath. A few seconds later, he stood up to wipe his sweat. When he was done doing so, he looked at the longest queue he has ever seen. There were hundreds of people with the same hope as him; to become The Next Big Star. He almost felt his legs squiggle but he got a hold of himself and headed to the representative to sign up.

"You can write your information here, here, here, and here. The audition closes at 5:00 pm and if you don't make it, better luck next time." The big lady at the lectern said in monotone and blew on her gum. Josh looked at her to ask a question but she glanced away so he headed out to the queue and sat. "I'll make it. It's still 8 hours before the audition closes." He encouraged himself.

A couple of hours passed by and he was still in the line. Unable to do anything, he snatched his phone and went to Facebook. He scrolled through his timeline looking at his friends who were successful in life. He wondered why he stopped college and decided to make his own career in the music industry.

"That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard Josh." His father once talked to him.

"It's okay honey, he's our son. If he likes being an artist, we can't do anything but to support him." His mother defended him.

"I know what we should do. We throw him out of the house and let's see if being a musician is worth it." His father grabbed his bags and pushed them out of the door.

His father was cruel, he always mocked at Josh when he does something. "You should be a business man just like me." His father would say. "No dad, I want to be an artist." He talked back. Mother on the other hand always supported him. She was always on his singing appointments, contests, and gigs. Yes, they are rich but he wanted to prove to his dad that he can live alone without their help.
