Dean sat at the kitchen counter, his laptop open as he stared intently at the email he had received that morning. His precious morning coffee sat forgotten, cooling next to his elbow.
Sam came down next, footsteps silent on the stairs. He headed straight to the coffee machine, not even sparing a second glance at Dean as he poured himself his miracle in a cup. Finally, he looked over at his older brother and frowned.
"Hey, what's up with you?"
Dean just closed his laptop and shrugged. "Nothing, why are you being so nosy, bitch."
Sam gave him a weird look. "No reason... Jerk."
Dean knocks back the last of his coffee, only to discover it was now cold. He spits it out, screwing his face up. Unfortunately his aim was off and while he was complaining about the disgusting taste, Sam ended up with cold coffee trickling down his face and staining his white sleep shirt.
"Gah, Dean!"
"Sorry Sammy!" Dean says as his brother stands up and hurries away.
Now that he was alone, however, Dean did turn and open his laptop back up. Sure enough, the email was still there. This, why this very email changed a lot of things. It gave him a new future.
Now he just had to decide if he was ready to take this opportunity.
*********
Sam stomped back into his room after his shower, rubbing the towel vigorously over his dripping wet hair. Goddamn having long hair, it took a freaking decade to dry. Gabriel was sitting in the desk chair, spinning around and watching vines on his phone, cackling at something every few seconds.
When Sam gave up, throwing the towel at the bed in anger, Gabe paused his video and looked up.
"What's got your antlers in a twist?"
"I wanna start our pranks up by targeting Dean first."
Gabriel's brows rise in surprise. "Ouch, no mercy or grace period for your own flesh and blood?"
"Says you."
"Still, it is Dean."
"And?"
"Well, nothing..." Gabe spun around again. "But what did he do?"
"Spat his cold coffee on me, now where should we start?"
Gabriel didn't have to spare a second thought on it. "Nice and simple Sammy, then we hit him hard."
They decided to wait, biding their time for the next few hours until Dean took Ben outside for a while. Everyone else was inside, so they didn't see any harm in setting the prank up by the front door, where Dean would have to walk through after finding the back door locked.
They worked fast, sharing shit eating grins as they perched on the couch and waited for Dean to enter. It took ten minutes, during which Gabriel mysteriously disappeared upstairs but returned with more candy. Sam wondered if Dean would see the funny side of this, he decided that his brother probably wouldn't. Finally though, the door opened and their prank was set off.
A whip-cream pie flew forward, smacking him in the face. Then the marbles flew loose, tripping up Dean - who let out a strangely feminine grunt of surprise- before the large amounts of sprinkles and cream fell from the ceiling, followed by a sweet cherry on top. Because as far as Gabriel was concerned, this was starting simple.
Sam was laughing, until their victim sat up and wiped cream from her blonde hair. Sam paused. Her? Shit, he felt himself start stuttering as Jess stood up with a huff and tried to wipe the cream off clothing. All she managed to achieve was smearing it further.
"Jess? Oh god I'm sorry!" Sam hurried over to her, Gabe on his heels. "We thought you were Dean."
Jess manages to clear her eyes enough that she could stare Sam out. "What the hell?"
"Dean, we were gonna prank him," Gabriel said slowly.
"We forgot you were arriving this morning."
Jess licks her lips. "Well, its shame we don't get to see Dean go through that, his face would be priceless."
Sam laughed, and was caught off guard when his friend hugged him. Covering him in cream.
"Awe Jess... really?"
She just giggles, taking the steps two at a time, no doubt heading for a shower before seeing everyone again.
Gabriel sighed, leaning against Sam. "Well, we failed there."
"Ah well, we'll get him later."
Gabriel giggled. "Good, I have so many ideas."
Sam just smiled, hugging Gabe tightly against his side as his mind yet against returned to the hard news Alfie had told him. For now, he vowed to spend as much time as he could with Gabe. And if that meant pranking his brother... well he was happy to do that.
Gabriel suddenly jumps away from Sam, eyes shining mischievously. "I have an idea."

Their group had grown significantly bigger since the first time they had visited the lake. This was great and all, blah blah blah they had made new lifelong friends to bring into their weird family blah blah blah. But what it also meant was that people had to sleep on the floor on air beds. That and they had to get beanbags so there was enough seats when they all curled up in the now cramped lounge and watched movies.
Sam felt bad for pranking Jess, but she thought that their idea had been amazing and wanted to help them prank Dean. Gabriel, of course, immediately took to her and started telling her their ideas. Sam was glad to see them becoming friends. After all, Jess was still his best friend no matter what had happened between them in the past.
Alfie and Adam were snuggling together, immediately making everyone coo over how cute they were being. Until lucifer complained and insisted that Michael and himself were much cuter.
This triggered a fight between the couples over who was cuter. They managed to wake Ben up with all their yelling, thus bringing an end to it. No one was able to prove themselves cuter.
Once Dean returned downstairs after getting Ben to sleep once more, Sam and Gabriel fled the room. Not even a second later Dean chased after them, covered head to toe in glitter.
Cas laughed, shaking his head and heading out to the kitchen to get a cup of hot cocoa. Dean's laptop still sat on the breakfast bar. Cas noted it was still on and shook his head. Dean was always forgetting to shut it down.
He opens the lid and closes the Amazon page left up, Dean's emails come up next and Cas quickly goes to close them, not wanting to pry. But before he clicked the red x, a certain email caught his attention and he frowned.
Why the hell hadn't Dean told him?
