Chapter 17 - Crystals

As the ground shook, Carlos and I went to look outside. We knew it wasn't an earthquake so we needed to go check it out. Reaching outside, we checked the radar watch Carlo's father created. The largest waves were coming from the back. Running around there, I quickly transformed. Twin creatures started rising from the ground. They were made of rock and crystals sticking out at odd places.

Flipping my staff, I ran towards the first one. It was almost the same size as Carlos but it was made of rock so he would be harder to beat. I focused my energy into the blade and stabbed it right in the chest. My blade struck it but bounced off. The deflection shocked me and for a quick minute I was distracted. The monster saw its opportunity and was about to hit me when an electric ball struck it. It hissed in pain and stepped back. I looked behind me and saw Oniah grinning at me.

I grinned back at her, "Thanks partner." She nodded. We worked together and to make the monsters vanish. Finishing them off I stabbed the last one in the chest. They both turned to dust and a gem fell on top of the dust pile. Every time we killed a monster, a gem would drop from them. Carlos walked up and took up the gem and carried it inside.

We followed him inside to the basement. In the corner of the room, there was a chest where we stored all the gems. Carlos placed it in the chest and closed in. He turned towards us and smiled.

"I have some news." We looked at him waiting. "I got a call from my dad and the flight to Australia tomorrow was cancelled.....but....there is one 6 hours from now."

Oniah jumped, "We get to see the red vamp earlier?! Yay!!"

Carlos nodded in confirmation, "you girls need to pack an overnight bag since we are only staying for 2 days."

I nodded and ran off to my room, Oniah running to hers. I grabbed my little suitcase and stuffed a few clothes in along with 2 of my swimsuits. We are going to Australia after all. I took out my phone and dialed dad. Three rings later and the phone was answered.

"Dad? You ok?" I asked as I heard heavy panting in the background.

"Yeah. Jason just had me running after him because he didn't want to sleep." I laughed. Jason could easily sense someone's emotions but he was stubborn.

"Tell him I miss him. Also, Dad? The flight was changed to later tonight so we have to head out now." He sniffled.

"I wish I could see you off." I shook my head and laughed. My dad is so dramatic..

"Dad, I'll talk to you when I get there. Bye." The phone hung up after he said his bye along with travelling wishes. I placed my phone on the nightstand and lay down on my bed, thinking about everything. Carlos came into my room and lay beside me, not asking what my mind was on. We exchanged good nights and I feel asleep in his arms. Drifting off into deep slumber.
