Chapter thirty seven

Athena
We made it to the tower and headed up to Piper's office where she had a table full of stuff for us.

"Hey you guys", she said walking into the room.

"Thank you again for doing this".

"It's no problem at all. I'm happy to do this".

"We've been thinking about when we want it and we decided summer or fall, probably more summer".

"Sounds good".

"So colors?"

"You know that movie Tangled. It's my favorite Disney movie. We're thinking that as the color and theme".

"This wedding will be so beautiful".

"Okay so we have that down and how do you want the flowers?"

"I want some summer flowers with the theme and color of it too".

"Alright sounds good".

Tony comes strolling in.

"How's my favorite couple?"

"We're good".

"Hey Tony mind gathering up everyone for a meeting we got something to tell everyone", said Steve.

We got up with Pepper behind us. I grab his hand, intertwining our fingers.

"What's this about hun?"

"I brought our cards to give to everyone about bridesmaids and such".

"Oh good I completely forgot about them".

"It's okay doll. I got you."

"I love you so much".

"And I love you too more than you will ever know darlin'".

We took the elevator down to the meeting room, hand and hand we walk in and sat down in our places.

"So I know this is a surprise meeting but Steve and Athena wanted to say some things".

"Thanks Tony".

"So we have some things we wanted to address while everyone is here", I say as Steve hands out the cards to the right people.

"Is this about the wedding?"Asked Clint.

"Turn the cards over",  I say smiling.

"I'm the maid of honor, really Athena?"

"Yes Nat. You're my best friend being here. I never really had a good friend like you. So you get to be maid of honor".

"Thank you Athena".

"I'm happy we're bridesmaids", said Wanda.

"I love you all".

"Awww Athena".

"And you guys are my groomsmen. Buck is my best man".

Then my phone started ringing. I walked away a bit and answered it.

"Hello?"

"Athena?"

"Mom?"

"You're father is on his death bed. He wants you and Steve to come home".

"Mom we'll be there as soon as we can. Love you and tell dad his daughter is coming".

"Love you too".

I press the end button and stand there then punch a wall so hard I hear a crunch in my wrist but I ignore the pain as I keep hitting the wall over and over.

"Baby stop. Your hand is bleeding and....broken. What's wrong doll?"

"My mom called saying my dad is dying. We gotta head out ASAP he wants to see us".

I cry out as he holds me against his chest. He kisses my forehead.

We walk back in and I look at everyone.

"Me and Steve have to leave for a while. Um my dad is dying and I need to leave to be with him."

"I'm so sorry Athena".

"It's okay. I have Steve with me".

"Are you leaving now?" Asked Tony.

"Yeah my mom has no idea how long he's going to last".

"If there's anything we can do let us know", said Nat.

"We'll both have our phones so yeah".

After hugs and such we went to our place and packed clothes and such and happy took us to the airport and we went through all that and in our seats. Steve held me close as I cried my eyes out til I fell asleep.
