Chapter 7 : Riot in the streets

The group of friends were in Detroit and the races didn't start until the next day. With plenty of free time, the crew went for a walk around the City, took some photos and found a place to eat. During lunch, Damien, Eli and Walter left for the washroom, leaving Nikki and Victor at the table.
"We've hardly spoken since we've met." Nikki said to him.
"Do you have a girlfriend? Have you ever dated anyone before?" She asked.

"I never had a girlfriend, and I've never been in a relationship either." Victor replies.
"Why's that?" She asked him.
"Damien was the popular guy in High school, the only time a girl spoke to me was to ask for his number." He told her.
"I was always in Damien's shadow so i wasn't really noticed or hit on." Victor added.
"But the thrill of driving made me forget about all of that." He said to her.
"Believe it or not, I was pretty much the same." Nikki told him.

"There's just something about cars that makes me feel like nothing else matters." Victor said.
"I met some awesome people who i care about, and that makes me happy." He continued.
"Happiness comes in many ways, for you that's cars." Nikki replies.
"I'm glad that you spoke to me, and I'm glad we have something in common." She told him.

Damien and the others returned from the washroom then went to their hotel rooms after lunch. The next day everyone was prepared to race through the closed off neighbourhood. Eli was the first one to compete against 20 drivers in the drag events. He lines up his Charger then launches off the start with incredible speed. Race after race he outran every opponent in his powerful beast of a car.

Eli easily took gold in that event and became a fan favourite for his flawless Victory. He collected his prize then quickly looked around to see if Amber saw what he did. He returns to the pit area then rushes towards the Drift events.
"Did Victor start yet?" Eli asked Nikki. "You're just in time, he's up next." She replied to him.

"Cool, so is Amber anywhere around?" Eli proceeded to ask.
"I think she's racing in my division, so she's probably getting ready for that." Nikki told him. While they spoke the Drift events were taking place. According to the crowds reactions, The Drifting events were the best division so far. Cars spun out and crashed into the barriers during the runs.

Victor slides his car smoothly through the turns and blinds his opponent with a cloud of smoke. After three more aggressive rounds, Victor manages to steal another victory for his team. He returns to the pit area and is congratulated by his friends. "Alright, one more Event to go." Eli said to the group.
"Finally, a chance to break my brother's ego." Damien said to Eli.

"We're competing in a few moments Richard, and these kids already beat our guys twice." Bert said in an annoyed tone.
"Nothing to worry about, I sabotaged the S14, one less brat to deal with." Richard told him.
"I'm the Top dog here, If my brother wants that gold he needs to fight for it." Richard said aggressively.
"I'll stay behind you to prevent anyone from passing you." Bert told him. "Let's get this done, Bert." Richard replies.

Damien and Nikki lined up their cars at the Starting grid and waited for the others. Eli lines up next to Bert's Mustang and Richard was at the front of the pack. The light turns green and the drivers speed off the line and down the street. The crowd cheered as the powerful cars blast pass them. Richard has the biggest Advantage as his Daytona Charger pulls away on the straight roads.

However, Richard couldn't hold his speed through the corners and Amber caught up in her Z tune R34. Bert did his best to Keep Damien and Nikki behind his car,but they outsmarted him and found a way pass. Eli tried to get ahead of Amber but she out ran him easily through the turns. Nikki passes Eli on the third lap and Damien drafts her through the corners. Richard realised that Amber and Nikki were rapidly catching up to him and began to panic.

Damien then passes Nikki rapidly whilst exiting the corner and tries to catch Amber. Bert manages to catch up and scrapes Eli's door as he flies pass him. The Mustang roars out of the turn and slams into Nikki's Lamborghini.
