Time Traveling Vampire Assassin (TTVA)

Chapter 1: Introduction

Hello, did the title get your attention? I thought it might. You're probably thinking it sounds a bit cheesy, like a bunch of story tropes put together for "click bait", as they used to call it. Well, in a way, I guess it kinda is, but that's my life now: a bunch of crazy things happening one after another till they snowballed into something from a YA sci-fi writer's pipe dream.

Anyways, I should introduce myself. My name is Clariece Summers, and I was going to be a scientist. Well, that was the plan anyway. It was the year 2142, and I was interning at a top secret organization that called themselves the Society of Scientific Research for Human Evolution, which was shorted to SSRHE. While it sounds boring, they were actually doing some pretty intense (and sometimes illegal) stuff. They were dedicated to making or discovering "better" forms of humans. People who were stronger, more powerful, or in some cases, who could do things only heard of in science fiction, such as reading minds, teleporting, and even traveling in time.

My father, Dr. Summers, was particularly interested in time travel and immortality. He had developed a machine that could theoretically transport anything from one spot to another, as well as forward and backwards in time. I became fascinated with it and thought an internship would look good on college applications, so I decided to join the society. Because of my family connections, I got a spot as an intern with my father and his colleagues. I got to help out with the various experiments and witnessed many poor animals' gruesome, and often painful, deaths. I realized that while my father could actually teleport inanimate objects to different positions and times, he was not having the same luck with living material.
