It was safe to say that Lance was panicking a little.
Or a lot.
Okay, no, I'll backtrack a bit - he was completely stressed and also completely freaking out.''Tikki, this is not fair. Can Zarkon just leave me alone long enough to finish..how many? Seven? Seven pieces of homework? Before tomorrow! Madame Altea will actually kill me if I turn in another incomplete assignment, I've already missed four homeworks this month! And it's the fourteenth of May!" Lance flopped face down onto the daybed, the blue fabric muffling his complaints. Tikki sighed and flew over, tugging at a strand of Lance's dark brown hair.
"Lance, lying on the couch won't help with your homework! If you want any chance of not getting a detention tomorrow, I'd advise you to get to it!" she scolded him gently in her cute, squeaky voice.Lance slowly rose from the daybed, grumbling but still cooperating. He plonked himself onto his desk chair - blue of course, just like almost everything else in his room.
"I know, I know, Tikki. Being Ladybug sure does have ups and downs though. This homework situation is definitely a down.""Just get on with it, the sooner you start the sooner you'll finish after all!"
________________________________"Is Mother coming to dinner today, Kolivan?"
Keith asked. He only asked out of politeness - he knew full well what the answer would be."Not today, Keith, I'm afraid. Your mother is a busy woman. However, I'm sure she has a good reason." Kolivan spoke respectfully, but Keith could see the pity in his eyes. Keith didn't want his pity, he just wanted his mother to show up for once. He gave a short laugh.
"She must have a lot of excuses for you if you always think it's a good reason. Well, I know that you don't, but hey, she pays you to keep me happy, I guess white lies are in the job description. I'll be in my room, practising piano."
He pushed back his chair and left the room.As he climbed the staircase to his bedroom, Plagg whizzed out of his jacket pocket, and predictably started rambling on about his favourite topic - cheese.
"Thanks for getting that cheese sandwich for me earlier, I was almost fainting from starvation! I mean, it wasn't Camembert, but- Keith, are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
"Okay but that was more of an outburst than normal, so I was just wondering. You always say I need to think about other people's emotions more." Plagg sounded genuinely concerned, and Keith smiled a little. He stopped at the top of the stars, and patted the Kwami on his little head.
"You're right Plagg, that was really cool of you to ask. To tell you the truth it's nothing new that's changed, I just..wish my mother was around more."
Plagg nodded, and Keith could tell he was really making an effort to be kinder, which he had to admit was pretty cute.
"Listen, how much Camembert would it take for you to transform me for just a little bit before we go for patrol?"
"Just one wheel of cheese - but the stinkier the better." The tiny black cat was grinning, and that was a bit less cute.
"Ugh, but okay - deal."
