Starstruck: A Kaito x Len story

Chapter One

Kaito woke up promptly and brushed his teeth. He combed his hair and carefully dressed into his school outfit. Each freshman of Vocaloid Academy High had their own unique outfits created by the schools designers. Finally wrapping his scarf around his neck, he was ready.
Grabbing his neat pile of finished homework, he added it to his bag and walked down the stairs. The empty house echoed lonely footsteps.

All of the Academy students lived in an apartment complex a block from the school. Black, or so the kids called it for the building's noir bricks, housed the males. The females lived in White, which was identical to Black in every way but the bricks colour.

Kaito started his long treck from the top floor. The upperclassmen, advance learning students, lived on the top floor in spacious rooms that were separated by a lobby. Kaito had just entered the lounge and began making breakfast. The other upperclassmen, nicknamed tops, gathered around and laid out their plates. Kaito always made everyone breakfast; he loved cooking.

Once he had eaten and cleaned up, it was 10:00. Class started in an hour. The tops lounged around and carried on, however, Kaito slipped out. He had somewhere much better to be.

Len woke to the crispy screaming of his obnoxious alarm. He silenced the dank cacaphony and rolled out of bed, literally. His limp, blanket wrapped body fell to the floor. Groaning loudly, he unwrapped himself. He dashed to the bathroom, his neon banana boxers assulting the eyes of his roommate.

Normal students had to share a room with a roommate. Len's mate was Piko, the salty, straight-laced boy that sat at his bed, reading a book.
"You'll be late unless you can be completely ready in..." The silver haired boy glanced at his watch, "Five minutes. Good luck." He then closed the book he was reading and walked out the door, headed to class.

Just then, a knock was made on Len's door, a gentle tapping that was followed by the warm Kaito saying, "Lenny? Are you up yet? Hey, I can hear you getting dressed, that's proactive of you!!!" He laughed.

Len, who was madly rushing around suddenly stopped.
"Huh, what? But..." Len looked at the clock on the wall, it was a whole hour till class! But his alarm? Len looked at his phone.

"DAMNIT PIKO!!!" Len yelled. Piko had unlocked his phone and changed the clock to be an hour ahead. Of course, Piko would do this to him. After all, he had pranked Piko last week pretty epically. He smiled remembering the video of Piko singing "Havana" in the shower slightly off key. He had recorded it and it went viral!

Len sighed deeply and opened the door for Kaito. Kaito beamed a sweet smile and stepped in.
"Heyya Lenny, nice boxers~!" Kaito laughed
"Of course, my best friend bought them for me!" He said back with a grin.
"Oh, best friend? Is he hot? I heard he's a real looker myself!" Kaito winked at Len, causing him to blush lightly.

"Yeah, between us, he's cute. His hair is just too perfect too..." Len said this as he ran his fingers through his own crazy hair. He proceeded to put his longer hair into a little ponytail, his signature look.

"Ok it's getting weird talking about you like you're not right next to me, are we going to get breakfast or not Kai?" Len said as he began dressing into his school uniform. Once he was finished, he looked into the mirror and sighed.

He had dark circles under his eyes... He'd stayed up late playing an MMO with Kaito again. Glancing at his friend, he noticed his skin looked fine. Len walked up to Kaito and stared at his face intensely.

Kaito's smile faultered, and he began to blush. "Um... Need something Len?"

"Ah! Oh sorry" Len said stepping even closer. "How come you don't look like trash even though you stay up all night huh?" Len said starring still.

"Uhhhhh, I uh, have a skincare routine..." He then mumbled something about cucumbers. He was blushing like crazy. He could feel Len's light breath against his face.

Kaito stepped back and walked to the door briskly.
"Let's be going Lenny, all the donuts will be gone if we don't hurry!!"

Len was checking his phone and didn't make anything of his friend's retreat. Putting his phone up, he began walking with Kaito out of the building.
