Meeting and Curiosity

While I was walking down the sidewalk, two people were running down at full speed.

"Uwah! Kazuren! We're gunna be late because of you! You should actually wake up when the alarm goes off!" a teenage girl wearing a bright red belly shirt, which exposed her white belly fur, a short, white skirt, and white shoes screamed at the small creature on her back. She was a Yōkai called a Fūri. She had brown hair and it was tied into a long ponytail. Her fur was light black with a leopard pattern. She had red eyes and a thin tail and very small ears that were the same color as her fur.

"Okay okay! Stop lecturing me this early in the morning, Hayate..." the small guy on her back wearing a very large, light green hoodie, grey shorts, and no shoes said with a sleepy voice. He was a Kappa. He had a shell on his back and short, dark brown and green hair.

They both had a bag in their hand. Were they students? I followed them as they passed many turns in the road and saw a broken down school they were running to. Yōkai usually used old schools as their school because many new schools that were in use had no empty rooms for them to use. In the old days, almost everyone knew about Yōkai, so the Yōkai would be able to go to the same schools and humans, but now many people would freak out at the sight of them. Yōkai with fur and ones that don't look human can't fit in with humans, so they make their own schools. Most human looking Yōkai go to human schools for elementary school to middle school though because it lets them learn about humans for other purposes. Yōkai love to make trouble, most of them anyway, so they learn about humans from going to their schools and later switch to a school specialized for them. In the Yōkai school, they would continue to learn average subjects, along with a special spooking subject for scaring humans.

The Kappa and Fūri apparently named Kazuren and Hayate respectively ran through the school gates and into the school. A bell sound had chimed right after they had gone in. I am a very curious person so this piqued my interest. I quickly ran back to my house.

It was about 9 a.m. when I finally got back home because I had gotten lost on the way back.

"SUYA! What took ya so long!? Your dad and I are hungry!" my mom yelled as she slapped me across the face. Was she that hungry? Yōkai can go for many days without eating and drinking so I didn't really care if I was late from getting groceries, but apparently my mom cared.

"Sorry mom," I said holding my cheek, "there were these kids that were holding up the line." Hopefully she believed my very obvious lie. She wasn't the smartest person.

"Ugh..," she groaned, "I guess that's a good excuse." She snatched the grocery bags out of my hands.

She walked over to the kitchen and grabbed a plate. I'm guessing she was going to make a sandwich or something like that. I wanted to go back to the school. I headed to the bathroom so I could put a bandage on my face because somehow the slap had torn my skin and it started bleeding. I still had many bandages on my face from earlier things that had happened. I started tiptoeing out of the bathroom but then realized that my parents wouldn't care that I was leaving. It was probably better for them for me to be gone. I opened the door and no one had turned their head to look at me so I continued out. I started walking back towards the direction of the school.
