"Did you know how possessive I am?""I-I don't want someone possessive."
"You don't have a choice."

I swivelled in my swivel chair, tugging at my tie on this hot Thursday afternoon. A stack of files lay smack in the centre of my table, reminding me that it was indeed a very long day. Father had taken a leave to travel with his fiancé and left everything in my surveillance, adding to my never-ending list of tasks. I was tired already.
The intercom on the left wall buzzed before a chirpy female voice rang painfully in my ears.
"Sir, Mr. Jake Adley from Adley Inc. is here to see you. Expecting you in room number P15." The voice stopped and was replaced by complete silence again.
I grunted before I got up, straightening my shirt and pulling the suit jacket from the hanger. I walked out of my office, wearing the jacket as I went nodding at the people working for my father. The elevator took me two floors beneath where Jake was waiting. He had grown to be a friend of mine. He was a super rich guy who owned an electronics company and whenever he'd build a branch or franchise somewhere, he'd come over to me to design the building.
"Hello, dear friend." I greeted as I entered room no. P15 which was a mini meeting hall. Jake was seated at one of the chairs around the oval table in the centre of the room. He grinned when he saw me, standing up and giving my hand a good shake. I sat down opposite to him, beginning to ask about what services I could render to him today.
The meeting was short. This time, Jake wanted me to design a house for himself instead of an office. I was surprised to know that he was getting married and happy that he chose me to build the house he'd live in with his wife. He was content as he walked away and so was I as I went back to my office.
I stepped out of the elevator when it reached my floor and began walking to my office. When I was about to turn to the left alleyway, I heard some giggles. And I immediately knew who they belonged to. Curiosity drove me to walk straight instead of left, finding out what was the cause of the laughter that I had forbidden to be heard by anybody else but me.
Just round the corner that led to the cabins of engineers in the office, there stood my personal secretary, leaning against the wall in front of an engineer named Joseph who was supposedly his 'friend'. I fumed.
"Oh, what do we have here!" I called with sarcastic enthusiasm, stepping towards the duo. My secretary quickly leaned away from the wall, his face going pale when he saw me. He knew he had done something that was forbidden by me and he knew what kind of repercussions he might have to face.
Joseph stood there oblivious to anything, smiling at me politely without taking my sarcasm.
"Afternoon, sir." He greeted. I smiled back at him and gestured to his friend shaking by the side."May I borrow him?"
"Of course, sir." Joseph replied sheepishly before hurrying back to his cabin. I turned around and started walking, hearing the faint sound of the light footsteps that followed me at a distance.
I entered my office with him in tow. He shut the door behind and stood there as I turned to him. His face was still devoid of colour, hands clutching each other for support. He looked at me with fearful doe eyes before turning his gaze to the ground.
