Basils POVSo, I'm not the smartest kid ever, but it didn't take much to figure out how much Allen was in love with Fig. Every few minutes he would look at him and bite his lip, obviously thinking about said someone.
Gods could that guy be any more obvious?
"No! For the last time, it's Jupiter, and then Saturn. Saturn doesn't come before Jupiter. Honestly, do you know nothing? This is basic knowledge!" Hero cried, clearly aggravated by Allen's "stupidity".
"Well, at least I'm not a know it all!" He huffed, throwing his pen across the table
"Where's your quill!? Is that what you've been writing with? I've never seen such a thing! Let me guess, it cheats for you, puts all the right answers"
"Ha! Finally something you don't know" Allen laughed, reaching for the pen "This is a muggle quill, you don't have to dip it and there's no mess. Fig gave it to me, such a fine invention" Allen smiled clicking it "plus it clicks, so that's a bonus. You can annoy so many people" he chuckled
"Ugh, you're unbelievable" she mumbled, flipping to the next page. She leaned over towards me "where did he say he got one of those? Fig was it?" She whispered, trying to keep her voice down so Allen wouldn't hear.
"Ah yes, stooping my my level are you?" Allen laughed.
"I've got a crap ton in my bag if you want one" Fig said "I got a huge pack of black and then some colored ones as well if you'd prefer"
"Colored?! You never said you had colored!!" Allen gasped "and I thought we were friends" he pouted
"I didn't have my colored ones on me at the time" Fig defended "if you want one, I've got plenty. I rarely use the colored ones anyway"
"Do you have purple? I like that color, it's blue but prettier"
"Yeah" he said, handing Allen the dark purple pen, he turned to Hero and I " do you guys want one?"
"Uh-" Hero mumbled "Yeah, I'll take a black one"
"I like red," I answered. "'Tis a good color, very vibrant. It reminds me of blood."
"Whelp, no knives for you" Allen whispered, scooting his chair bit
"Bloods pretty, it -"
"Nope, don't want to hear it" Hero said, covering her goat ears. "It makes me want to throw up"
Fig laughed " I had a neighbor who would -"
"Nope! Another thing about blood and you guys get to see what I had for dinner" Hero cut him off
"Guys" Fig said, looking at his muggle clock in his wrist "it's already 8 pm, and I'd like to catch a few hours of sleep before astronomy tonight" he said, packing up his stuff. "Plus, I want to stop by Dema in the Owlry if I can, I haven't seen her for a week"
Fig's POV
I laid down on my bed, arms and legs sprawled over the sheets. I took in deep breaths as I closed my eyes, not even bothering to take my glasses off. I was too tired to even pull on my blankets.
Despite the constant stress from school work deadlines, I loved it here. At home I was this crippled kid, the kid who had back issues and the third wheel in any form of social interaction. Despite knowing that I was going to a school with kids like me, I packed my brace just in case I would need it.
Yesterday I threw it out.
Heck, I never wanted to see that thing again. I would never have to wear it either. I go home for summer vacation and that's it, I don't have to go outside, I don't have to see people. They don't see my wings if I never leave my house.
A familiar scratching sliced the dormitories silent hum. I opened my eyes slightly to see Allen sitting in bed, writing in his journel. He'd been writing a lot the past few nights, I'd wake up once or twice to find him writing, wand between his teeth. Tonight was no different. I watched a few moments, my eyes adjusting to the faint glow of his wand.
I studied his face, had his eyes always looked that pretty? My mind immediately wandered to Basil, who I still was confused as to whether she liked me or not. The first day I met her she seemed to be flirting with me, but now that I'd gotten to know her, I'm pretty sure that's just her personality. Did I like her?
"Fig, you awake?" Allen whispered, putting down his book.
"Yeah" I answered, my voice sleepy
"I was just wondering, you don't have to get up" he said, taking the wand out from his mouth, the light making the shadows dance across the room.
"Nah, it's all good" I yawned, pulling my blankets around me. "What's up?"
"Uh-" he said, "can I tell you something?"
