I paddled out farther concentrating to find a good wave. It was still low tide. Early. Too early for anyone to be in the beach. It was almost seven am. I was one of the three surfers out there. The only girl of course. I try to lay low cause the guys on this beach get pretty aggressive about sharing waves. I didn't look at them, speak to them, get near them. I wanted nothing to do with agro (aggressive no good surfer) surfers. I heard a board behind me. A distinct splashing of the bottom plastic covering. A hard top board. I didn't turn to see who it was. I just sat on my board focused on the forming swells. The person seemed awfully close now. I turned my head a little. A boy about my age was staring at me. Not just any stare, a smirk.☑
