The sunlight bled into my eyes through the sides of my blue tinted sunglasses as I squinted at the road ahead of me. The green light appeared teal as I pressed the gas pedal lightly with my right foot. The flat sole of my mint green converse slipped slightly on the pedal as I turned the wheel slightly to change lanes. This was all too familiar. This turn lane was the beginning of my daily happiness. As I pressed the brakes to allow the intricate metal gates to open slowly I look down at my dark gray sweatpants. The pale yellow of my t-shirt contrasts the dark fabric as I look up, hearing the gears stop turning. I pull my old light blue Honda Civic through the gates, and my excitement begins to bubble within me. It was as if the opening of the gates brought color to the black and white apathy of my mind. My posture straightened as I saw them standing smiling, waiting for me. We met here everyday. The nine smiling faces before me seemed to be the only things in this world that truly made me happy.
