Mason just kept walking, it was pouring rain and pitch black on this access road but Mason just kept walking. 'Can't relapse, can't go back,' he murmured to himself and continued to murmur to himself. He was drenched in rain from head to toe, but continued to walk with no real destination. Mason just had to get away, get away from there, get away from here, he just wanted one good thing in life and thought it was that, but obviously it was not.

He was about to head back, but that's when he saw it. It was barely in his field of vision, but it was in the corner of his eye. It was a flash of light, and he saw it again, it was ever so bright. Mason had nothing better to do with his life, so he walked towards it.

He hesitated once he saw it came from within the woods, but it felt as if something was luring him towards the source of the light. Without further hesitation, he began his trek in the woods. It was pitch black and he's never explored an inch of these woods, but it felt as if he knew these grounds like the back of his hand, easily avoiding stumps, hanging branches, and sharp rocks.

Mason finally reached the source of the light, it was an abandoned, old cabin. He really really didn't want to go in but it was beyond his will as he reached for the knob. As he turned it, his mind began to cloud, all thoughts suddenly vanished: all memories, all feelings, all gone. For what seemed like a lifetime, he opened the door, and as he walked through, everything went black.

...

Mason woke up, his body ached as he realized he was laying in the middle of the street. He sat up and squinted at bright shining sun. On his feet, he looked around, scratching his head. There was no one in sight...no cars, no animals, no noise, not anything. Mason noticed he was on the outskirts of town, curious he began walking. As he walked he checked house after house, building after building with no luck and no sign of life. That's when things got awry. Mason ran back towards the way he came, not looking where he was going, Mason ran smack into someone, they both fell down, groaning and wincing.

"Jeez, watch where you're going dude," she stood up and dusted off her pants.

"Where are we?"

"I don't know, do I look like a wizard to you?" She began to walk, back towards town.

"Where is everyone?" Mason asked, pursuing and eventually catching up to her, not too close to her, but not too far.

"Like I said before, I don't know...and I'm not some alien by the way, you don't have to observe from a distance."

Mason walked up to her, "My name's Mason, Mason Scott. I don't understand this. How is this even possible?"

"I haven't a clue, and I'm Scarla." She turned away and kept walking. She possessed long red hair and had a large jagged scarred gash on her upper arm, but Mason didn't dare question her about it.

"Let's head to Bob's, I'm going to try to find a phone." Mason patted his pockets, and found it strange how his phone wasn't there, 'damn' he muttered to himself.

"Alright, I need a snack anyways," and at that she grazed and skipped along. Mason couldn't help but admire her beauty, he smiled even, but just as soon as happiness hit, his mind strangled it and clouded with the darkest of storm clouds and he ran to catch up to her.

She pushed open the doors. "I'll be over," she contemplated her choices and shrugged, "Somewhere. Yell if you're about to die," then she hurried over to the snack aisles.

Mason walked towards the back of the shop, and into Bob's office. Surprisingly, it was wide open, since Bob resided there almost all of the time. Rumor has it that he never leaves it. Mason has high expectations walking in like it was going to be a awesome man cave, but his expectations were let down when he walked in and the room was duller than a door knob. Mason found the phone, picked it up, but had no idea who to call, for a minute he was in deep thought and dialed his old friend Jacob's number. The phone beeped saying no service, which made no sense. He tried again, same result, and again...with the same result.
