Epilogue: A New World

5 years later

The soft cry of a baby crying wasn't what initially awoke Percy, most because his body had started learning the sound to more with Markus leaving the bed.

Which is what usually wakes Percy enough to wait for his husband to some back to bed. But tonight was different, he wanted to help this time around instead of letting his husband deal with the baby himself.

Getting out of the bed, Percy made his way to the bedroom that was right next to their own and leaned against the opening. There, as a image that he wished he had a camera for, was Markus holding their baby girl.

"You should be in bed, love," Markus said softly as he spotted Percy at the doorway. A bottle in hand as he gave their crying child what she was asking for.

"I won't be a zombie from one bad night. You don't have to take the night shifts, I don't mind helping," Percy said softly, moving from the doorway to wrap his arms around his husband and look over his shoulder to the tiny child that they had brought home a few weeks ago.

It took some debating, but they had found a surrogate to use and as a result, they had their baby girl in their hands.

Percy had initially been against the idea, but Markus convinced him that it would be alright.

"Daddy?" A soft sleepy voice asked from the doorway.

Percy turned to look at their two year old son Noah. While his sister was human, Noah actually wasn't. Elijah had been working on a programming so android children could age up. The premade android children might not get much taller than currently, but there would be some growth and most importantly intelligence wise they would also grow.

Noah; however, was a design specially made for his biocomponents and body to actually grow and age like a human child. It was something that Elijah had been very proud of. Especially as Noah was remarkably similar to Markus and Percy in appearance.

"Hey, Squirt," Percy said softly, moving from Markus to pick up their son, "what are you doing awake?"

"I had a nightmare, then heard Sally crying," Noah said as he buried his cheek into Percy's shoulder as he gazed at his Papa holding Sally who was more content then before. "Is she alright?"

"Yeah, she was just hungry. She should be going back to bed soon just like you should be," Percy said softly as he adjusted his grip slightly as his son brought the toy dolphin that had been hanging from his hand up to his chest to clutch it.

"I don't want to go back to my bed," Noah said softly, his eyes starting to prick with tears as he buried his face into Percy's shoulder.

"Hmm," Percy said thoughtfully as he gazed at Markus, a silent question in his gaze.

Markus gave Percy a soft smile in return, turning to their daughter, he helped her burp before kissing her forehead and returning her to her crib. "Come on, let's go to bed," Markus said as he took Noah from Percy's arm so his husband could give Sally a kiss of his own.

Noah easily shifted to his Papa and wrapped his arms around him as he gazed at Sally himself. "Goodnight, Sally," Noah muttered as he watched Percy kiss his daughters head himself before the trio went to Percy and Markus' room.

Markus and Percy worked as a unit as Noah laid between each of his parents and easily fell back asleep now with the comfort from both of them. Percy rested on his husband's hip as they gazed into each others eyes.

"I love you," Percy said softly, love and sleepiness shining in his eyes.

"And I love you," Markus replied back with just as much love.

Together, the family went to sleep, barely being startled as Mrs.O'Leary hopped onto the bed and curled at their feet. Being protective of the large family that she had the job of watching over.

Through the troubled times, death, ending oppression, and the harshness the world set upon them; somehow, Markus and Percy's love for one another made it through.

They had peace and freedom. And most of all, they had a family.

I hope you all enjoyed the story and that all the wait wasn't for nothing. I don't plan on continuing this but I might make a different story where it's Leo and Percy that are friends that end up with the pairing Percy/Markus. In any case, feedback is appreciated and anything you might want to see as sort of one-shots from this story just let me know and who knows, I might make a chapter for afterwards that would be one-shot based.
