Thinking About You

This one-shot takes place between Season 1 and 2 and is an imagine of Clarke and Bellamy thinking about each other despite not being physically next to each other. Enjoy!

Bellamy.

The leaves behind him rustled as his breathing came in short, panicked breaths. His legs were screaming for him to stop but he didn't dare for fear that the Grounder was still chasing him as he broke through the tree line and changed direction once again.

Bellamy's mind was racing a million miles an hour as thoughts of his people flashed through his head.
His and Clarke's people.

A memory resurfaced of him appearing from one of the tunnel entrances beside the dropship to witness the carnage of the Grounder attack happening all around.

His gaze had snapped to a certain blonde who was yelling his name in a vain attempt to get him inside the dropship. One look at the Grounders, though, was enough for Bellamy to lose all sense of reason. The attack had taken Octavia from him; it had taken many innocent lives along the way too and as he picked up a stray gun on the floor he knew he would likely kill every last Grounder he could. At that moment he didn't care what happened to him.

With one last look at Clarke, he had charged head first at a Grounder whose battle armour suggested that he was a general of some kind. The gun on his shoulder stalled which abruptly jolted his nerves, giving the grounder long enough to smack him upside the head with a fist covered in metal. Bellamy tasted blood found his body to be lagging as he staggered up; his head still spinning before another blow opened up a cut on his cheek and he felt the warm, red liquid run down his face before disappearing into his collar.

"Bellamy!"- came a shout from somewhere to his left. The blurred outline of Clarke on the dropship ramp made his stomach drop as regret filled him for deciding to fight something he couldn't defeat.

A hand on Bellamy's arm snapped him back to reality and the Grounder General hauled him to standing. But before the Grounder could land another punch, a rock smacked the General across the back of his head and his eyes rolled back unconscious.

"Finn, no!" Clarke had yelled, but Miller was already pulling her through the dropship curtain. Just before she disappeared Bellamy caught Clarke's anguished gaze.

The gaze said a thousand things but Bellamy knew at that moment that she had to do what was needed to save their people. Even if it meant leaving Finn and himself outside.

Even if it meant their deaths.

His eyes kept their gaze on Clarke, whose heartbroken expression gave way to fear. Her eyes snapped to Finn who was struggling to fight another Grounder whose sword cut through the air close to Finn's ear.
Bellamy looked from Clarke to Finn and watched as the tears welled in her eyes. She knew what situation she was in, but Bellamy still nodded at her to give her reassurance.

She was doing the right thing.

Clarke took one final look at Finn, her eyes briefly flickering to Bellamy before she quickly nodded and disappeared into the red folds of the dropship curtain.

His eyes lingered where she had stood before he turned and grabbed a rock from the ground. The stone crunched on impact with the Grounder's head, who'd been holding Finn to the ground and the ragged figure fell to his knees.

Bellamy offered Finn and hand, who muttered a brief  "Thanks," under his breath as he pulled the boy to his feet and readied himself for a fight.
More and more Grounders flooded through the gate, though Bellamy's attention was on the mechanical whirr that signalled the closing of the dropship door.
