         One day later...

Marinette is about to cross the road to go to the park.  She does not notice the car that comes fast around the curb.  She feels someone grab her and as they roll towards the sidewalk, she closes her eyes.

Luka sees Marinette about to be hit by a car!  He does not think twice, before he grabs her and rolls with her towards safety.  Once on the sidewalk, he sees she has her eyes closed.  He thinks, she must have shut them in fear.  He continues to hold onto her.

"Marinette?  Marinette, speak to me!"  Luka says.

"L-Luka, how?"  Marinette says as she opens her eyes.

"It is okay.  I am here."  Luka says.

"How did you get here?"  Marinette says.

"I saw you and I came to your rescue."  Luka says.

"Th-thanks."  Marinette says.  She holds on tight to his arm.

"Marinette, let's go somewhere else!"  Luka says.  He picks her up and carries her to the park. He sets her down gently on a bench.  He sits down beside her, and wraps his arms around her gently.

"Luka, I do not understand.  I was awful to you.  I did not believe you the other day!"  Marinette says.

"It was a close call.  I could not let you die."  Luka says.  His eyes full of tears now.

"You have tears in your eyes.  Do not weep for me. Please!"  Marinette says.  Her own eyes begin to water now.

"I thought you would leave me.  I d-do k-know what I would d-do if you were to d-die."   Luka says.  He pulls her close.  His nose touches hers.

"L-Luka, it is okay.  Really, I am alright.  I am sorry to have scared you so much."  Marinette says.

"Do not ever be sorry!"  Luka says.

"Luka, why do you look at me like this?"  Marinette says.

"I do not know what you mean, Marinette."  Luka says.

"I think you do."  Marinette says. She reaches up and tickles his chin.

"No! "  Luka says.  He pushes her hand away.

"Luka, what has gotten into you?"  Marinette yells at him.

"Marinette, I  can not just pretend anymore."  Luka says.  He lets go of her.

Marinette misses his warmth.  She does not say so though.  She looks at him and sees his tears.  She wishes to kiss them away.  She turns away.

Luka whispers, "Marinette, I never meant to hurt you.  You have to believe me."   He sighs and walks away.

Marinette turns around and watches him go.  She feels like her heart might break.  Wait, what?

Marinette's  POV:  As Luka walks away, I long to know what he meant.  What did he mean to say?   I do not understand.  I thought we were good.  Now he acts like I meant nothing to him.  Was all the fun times, just an act?  I do not get it.  What did I do?  He even got mad when I tickled his chin.  Why?  I thought it was no big deal.  So, it is true then, I  did what I never meant too all over again.   How?   I thought after Adrien's   death, I was incapable of love.  I blush when I realize what I did not before now.  My heart belongs to Luka now.  No!  No, no!  He is my best friend, I can not love him!  I  cry when I realize it will do no good to deny it.   Luka, oh Luka!

Luka's  POV:  I feel my heart is about to break.  I never should have let it get this far.  I should have found someone else.  Some one new to help me move on from her.  I love her!  I love, Marinette!  Only, we can never be together.  She does not love me.  I can not say I blame her.  It is mostly my own fault, I never have the guts to show her, or speak of my love for her.  I mean, what could I say or do anyway?    It is not like I could ever be the type of  guy, blessed by a love from her!   I have to let her go!  It will painful for me, but I feel it is for the best.  I can not hold her back.   Why did she touch my chin?  It made me want to kiss her.   Like a coward, I walk away!  Ugh, why does the whole thing have to be so confusing!  Oh, Marinette!  Marinette!

Luka arrives home.  He goes to his room.  He sighs.  He can only think about her.  He can only think about Marinette.  It seems like he can not get her out of his head.  He wishes he could.  He feels his heart rip apart as if it could never be whole again.  He thinks, so this is what is like to be rejected by the only one you have ever loved?  This what heartbreak is like.  He wishes, he could tell her, but no.  He can not look at her without longing to kiss her.

Marinette goes home next.  She runs to her room.  She sits on her bed as the tears fall down for the first time in months.  Why?  Why does he have to be so wonderful?  Why does Luka have to look at me the way he does?  I only long to know he he feels about me.  Only, he leaves me alone and he confuses me so.  What am I to make of it all?
