It's been two years since you told Oscar you were pregnant with Penelope. You will never forget that day. The day your heart shattered into a million pieces. You loved Oscar with all your heart but he didn't want a baby. So of course you left the exact day, you didn't even give him time to change his mind. He'd only been gone an hour, he came back home to an empty room. Of course you regretted it with everything you had in you. Maybe Penelope would have a father if it wasn't for you. You sniffled at the thought and smiled when Penelope came up to you. "Hi baby." You smiled picking her up. "You ready to go with Tio Cesar to the park?" You smiled, moving her dark black hair out of her face. She nodded excitedly. Cesar still kept in contact with you since you two were very close, also he wanted to be close to his niece. He never told Oscar, probably thinking Oscar would be angry. You picked Penelope up once you heard the doorbell ring and smiled, opening the door. "Tío! Tio!" Penelope giggled, laying her head on his shoulder once he took her from you. He smiled and rubbed her back comfortingly, taking the bag you had packed for her. You packed her bottle, favorite stuffed animal and diapers just in case. You hugged them both goodbye and told them to be careful. You trusted Cesar so you knew he'd be careful with her, besides it wasn't the first time he had taken her out by himself. Once they left you were just sitting on the couch, flicking on the movie channel. Cesar had noticed that it started raining fairly hard, but they were almost to the park and he was being extremely careful. As he was about to pull into where the park was he didn't notice a car spinning out of control, colliding right into his car. The accident was absolutely terrible. The entire car flipped upside down, cries never filled the car. Just one chilling scream from Penelope. Cesar winced harshly, he had hit his face on the steering wheel pretty badly, along with his arm being shattered, that's how it felt to him. Everything just happened so fast. There was glass and dust everywhere. He couldn't hear or even see Penelope. The only windows that weren't shattered were his and P's window. "Mija? Babygirl, are you okay?!" He panicked. But there was nothing, just cold silence. The people on the scene had called Oscar first, then you. The ambulance were suppose to be on their way but Oscar got there as soon as he possibly could. Before Cesar could reach for anything in the backseat to bring him toward his niece, he heard a loud noise of a window breaking right before being dragged out by his leg. He gasped once he and Oscar fell back onto the cold wet ground. "G-get Penelope!" He screamed, tears streaming down his cheeks, knowing Oscar would never let him go back into that car. Oscar raised his brow and looked down at him. "You finally got over Monse foo?" Cesar immediately got infuriated, it wasn't time for jokes. "It's my fucking niece!!" Cesar tried to get out of Oscar's grip but he was just dropped to the ground. Oscar immediately broke the car window, climbing in the car, unbuckling Penelope from the car seat , coughing from all of the dust. He crawled out of the car with her and fell onto the ground once again, but made sure she was safe in his arms. He studied her face, she was lifeless in his arms. This is when he knew that she was gone. The first time he ever got to meet his daughter and she wasn't even alive. He teared up at the sight of her. He was confused, angry, upset, there were so many emotions running through. His head snapped up when he heard someone running toward him. His heart dropped. You had dropped your umbrella, seeing a sight you couldn't even bare to see for much longer. This is how he knew that this was all real and not some terrible nightmare. You ran over to them, sobbing. "Penelope?!" You screamed, getting on your knees in front of where Oscar was sitting and took her from him, moving a piece of hair out of her face. "No no no!!" You shouted, tears clouding your vision. "Where is the fucking ambulance?! You have to open your eyes baby please." You were having an absolute panic attack, this couldn't be happening to your two year old daughter. Why her? Why couldn't it be you? All you could do in this moment was hold her, Cesar repeating his apologies over and over but you were too distracted. Oscar felt sick to his stomach, he couldn't even stand himself anymore. Everything was just too horrid to be true.
