Chapter 20

(Absalom's POV)

After a long 15 minutes, I could finally hear myself think. Lola's voice grew distant to a point that I could no longer hear it. But what's been bothering me is why was Lola on the ship?

After we left Thriller Bark her carcass stayed behind along with a few other zombies. So how in the word did she manage to move around without a shadow?

Either way, I don't plan on returning to the ship if she's going to be there, so I better find (y/n) quick before it gets too late.

After rowing the small boat for about 15 minutes, I could finally see the boat that (y/n) must've taken. Thanks to the muscle implants I've had, I was finally able to reach the island in less than an hour. If I keep going then I should reach the island in about 10 minutes or so.

But what I'd like to know is, why is (y/n)'s boat the only boat there? Is the island deserted? Only one way to find out.

Once I reached the dock, I quickly tied the boat against the wooden post and got off. The first thing I wanted to look for were the footprints, but because there was some wind going on there I couldn't find any on the sand. If I would've been here sooner then maybe I would've seen some before they got blown away.

But then I saw that a few plants have been shoved away. Could she have passed by there? Probably, but just to be safe, I should probably turn myself invisible in case it's a trap.

As I turned myself invisible, I slowly approached the newly made path and just followed where I believed (Y/N) had gone. I just hoped that she is okay, who know what would happen if I saw anything happen to her.

After what felt like half an hour, I stumbled upon a village in ruins. Everything looked in bad shape, everything was burned down and from the looks of it, it had been weeks since the fire went out. I looked around some more and saw no one in sight, not even corpses. I thought it's strange how there are no signs of people being here.

Wait.

Where have I seen this before?

I suddenly realized something and I quickly pulled out the newspaper I showed (Y/N) last night.

This is it?!

This is the island where (Y/N) lived?

But how?

Last I checked we are miles away from this location so how did we get here so quick?

I then heard rustling going on from between some burned down huts and saw what I think was 2 people heading deeper into the jungle.

Did they see me?

Impossible, I am still in my invisible form.

Maybe they had a feeling someone was here?

Or they went to find something?

Quietly, I followed over where they went but after they both ducked behind a bush, they vanished.

But how?

How could they have vanished if they were just there?

Unless.

I then walked over and saw a pile of leaves that looked to be covering something.

A hole?

I touched it so it would turn slightly invisible and I saw a bunch of people inside.

Its an underground cave.

Wait...is this where all the missing people went? But if they're here, then where's (Y/N)?

When I saw someone aproaching the hole, I quickly let go of the leaves so it would turn visible again and hid behind a tree.

After seeing about 4 people stepping out I turned visible and stepped out from behind the tree.

Me- "um...pardon me."

"Oh, hello sir, are you lost?"

Me- "no, not really, I am just looking for (Y/N), perhaps she could be here with you all?"

They suddenly went quiet and they suddenly huddled together, whispering amongst each other. After a while they all turned back to face me.

"What do you want with her?"

Me- "I am just worried for her safety is all."

They all whispered to each other again before glancing my way.

"You wait here..."

Two of them went back into the hidden hole and the other two were just talking amongst each other.

Me- "(Y/n) has been worried about you all ever since she was taken away."

"I see..."

Why did they suddenly change their behavior? Don't tell me they think that I'M one of those pirates that burned down her village. I should probably say something before they just decide to turn against me.

Me- "I'm not one of those pirates that burned down your village, if that's what you're all thinking."

".........ok."

Suddenly the other two come out from the hole, along with someone else. This person was small and had a robe that covered both their body and head. I watched as this person slowly approached me and slowly removed the hood, revealing my beautiful bride.

(Y/N)- "Absalom..."

Me- "...(Y/n)"
