Huddled in a tight circle with my brothers, we skip around holding hands, like where never going to let go, singing, 'A tissue, A tissue, we all fall down.' Laughing so hard with joy, we all fall to the floor. The grass long and green, covering the mountain top. My home. Away from everyone else. The sun shining, making its way to Jack, showing off his beautiful smile and the curly blond hair that falls to his shoulders, with the glamours glint in his misty green eyes, only he has. While Quinn continually laughed. I looked over at him taking in his features, Quinn the opposite of Jack, With the short black hair and dark brown eyes from our father. Being only a year apart, my two brothers, look nothing alike and have a different sense in many ways, but we all share the same bond. Our blood. Yes, I look different, and I'm nothing like them. I pushed the pain to yesterday and planted the fake, wide smile back on my face. Being called for lunch, we all run onto the porch, smelling the delicious scones with jam. Ready to eat, we sit down as a family, Dad, Mum, Quinn, Jack and I. Quinn being only 14, Jack 13 and I 11. The memory slowly faded off the happy conversation when innocence vibrated around us. I snap out of it. Coming back to the present, the reality....

Running so far and fast. My skin pricking as a chilling breeze brush past me. My legs so light on the ground, my knees trembling beneath me. Oh how I missed the feeling of flying, but now I develop the start of the process. With the expansion of my speed. Being held captive in my house, and never allowed out. To be safe, I know. It was so hard, not being able to go to school. Never allowed to open the windows. Kept in the shadows. I'm old enough, now, to look after my self. No matter how many times I say it, no one listens. Moving House, killed me. Having to leave my life, and start a new one, killed me. The change and process that needs to develop just overwhelm me.......I suddenly stop, catching the sound of a twig break behind me. My eyes darted to each corner of the woods that surround me but didn't find the predator. There's something strange looming around.

I dropped the subject, discarding my motives. Presuming it's just an animal... I am in the woods. Sometimes, I just wish danger can come. So I can prove myself to be worthy, and to just, give them what they deserve. A goal popping up in my mind, I imagine myself kicking the defender, with my speed and abilities. Fighting them off, so they learn the lesson and run. I rapidly stop with the awareness of the 'animal' not really being an animal.

Thea I think, run, run like the wind. Don't look back. For once I listen to myself, letting my knees buckle and fingers tingle. I heavy my pace, the scent of earth and freshness over powering my nose. The trees blurring there way around me, some older than 1000 years, Some new. The touch of wanting to run away, but the power wanting to seek it.

I make a quick turn, following my instincts. Wanting to catch it by surprise.

Nervous but ready, I lighten my steps Ducking behind a large, curved tree that connects to another. This is it. Although, that feeling, of the strange person following me. Yet no danger follows. Curiosity runs warm in my blood.

Extending my teeth to be safe, I wait, ready for anything.

I hear the slowing of steps, it shouldn't be long now.

'You can do it, you can protect your self.' I say with confidence but came out as a croak. I feel myself shacking, my head spinning. I try, thinking so hard, pushing through the wild storm that dwells inside and lets my scenes go out to my surroundings. Coming back to me, I sought that it's just a boy.

Possibly only a couple years older than me.

Who is he, and why is he following me?

The questions over whelm me. I step out from behind the tree, desperate to find the answers, but, he was nowhere to be seen. I run trying to follow the path he came from. 'No, I lost him!'  Every moment in life there is a chance to prove one's self, I either lose it or fail. Seeking a rock, I release each leg to place in front of the other, sitting contently listening to the birds that sing thy harmony tune, 'da dadada da mmhhm'

Lost in the moment, my phone beeped, realizing I have 3 missed calls and 6 texts.

Knowing who the texts are from, I checked the calls. Having missed 2 from my father and 1 from 'JACK!' I shout letting the echo pass through the woods.

'Crap, I have to get back home'

I looked around finding I am further away than I thought.

Chapter 2

Home sweet home.

I rush inside and up the stairs.

'Theresa, where have you been. I thought you were just going for a run?' The deep familiar voice pulsated throughout our house and up the sleek cream walls. My dad, Christopher Mighty-Wood.

'Sorry I just got caught up, I guess.... You know how much I love to run, especially since the new change!'

'Yes, well come down here, So I can talk to you. It's very serious!'

'What is it?' I asked, nervous for the answer. I bet it's probably one of those lectures, he gives me about how I'm, what's the word again? oh yeah, 'special.'

'Just come down and wait for your brothers.' He said in the stern voice he puts on when he wants his own way.

Argh, yes my two over protective brothers, Quinn and Jack.

Quinn, the oldest. A bit nerdy, you could say. Great on computers, confident, when he gets to know you. Handy for the missions and safety patrols he's in charge of. Then Jack, what to say. He always overreacts, he literarily spends all his time worrying about me. Even at his own 16th party, he just watched me intently, like I would to a piece of lint chocolate, my favourite....

You see, all of my family has a certain beauty to them that's unbeatable. It's like having a family that is all models. All the girls swoon over them. Jack loves it, but Damien he prefers to stay in his room preoccupied with technology or inventing new things.

The door opened, knowing who it is. I rushed through and hugged my brothers.

Of which I haven't seen in a long time. They left to secure protection for me.

We are all vampires, you know, the ones with the sharp teeth and drink blood, but I'm special.

I don't know, how or why...

But I still find myself being protected and kept safe 24/7

You're probably thinking, you just went out for a run.

Well, knowing that I haven't been out for a run in ages. Ill tell you why.

First, of all, I'm 'apparently' different from the others. The result of that is being kept inside and away from all those creeps. I think it links to my mother, one of who. I never met. No one has ever said one word to me about her, and if I ask. Dad just ignores me and my brothers tell me to "Let it go." I've never actually been told of why I'm 'special' or 'different'.

The time will come when they decide to tell me, once I'm ready to take on that responsibility. I don't know when the time will come.
