"May I ask for your name?" She asks without looking up from what looks like a never ending pile of papers that she's scattering through.
I'm seated in the principals office in one of the most uncomfortable chairs i've ever sat on in my life, but that's not the point. Today is my first day at a new school. I'm in my senior year and I couldn't be happier that this year is my last! My life so far has consisted of travelling, travelling and just more travelling. This year is the first year that my dad has agreed to let me stay at one school for the whole year.
"Ohh, uh, it's Madison."
"Alright.. Madison" She looks up at me through the top of her glasses that are just so cautiously sitting on the end of her nose. "Here is your timetable with your scheduled classes, looking at it now I see that you have Maths first in room J7, I suspect that you've looked at the map and have studied it enough by now to know where that is?" She says with quite a stern tone to her voice.
"Yes Mrs May, I uh, I have." I stutter.
"Good. Hurry along now, you wouldn't want to be late on your first day."
With that, I leave the room. Mrs May is the principal of Hillview High. She's about 50 years of age, her hair has just started to turn grey in colour which I think that she's doing quite well with not going grey earlier if I must say and she has piercing grey eyes that seriously feel like they're looking straight into your mind. She seems a little crabby but i don't think she was always that crabby. It feels like an act she puts on.
I haven't actually studied the map. Hell. I didn't even know there was a J building! Actually come to think of it, I don't even think I know where my map is? I have no idea where I am meant to go right now but I decide that walking around should get me there eventually. That was until I pretty much came face first with the ground. My books went flying and pages from my folder scattered all through the place. Good job Madi. Great first impression.
"Are you alright?" I look up to see a dark brown haired girl staring at me with concern in her eyes.
"Oh, yeah i'm fine, i'll be okay." I reply kind of nervously.
"Oh okay, that's alright then." The concerned look had completely vanished from her face and it was replaced with a look of..... content? She smiled at me once more and continued walking like she didn't even witness a thing. Wow. She never even offered to help me up, and I don't even think she even considered it. People here are so rude.
While people continued to just walk past me while I was still sitting on the floor, I eventually managed to get all of my papers together and my books. I stand to my feet and just look around. The classroom on the other side of hall has 'H3' written just above the door. With that, I figure that I must be in the H building. I turn on my heel and make my way towards the exit at the end of the corridor. Again I just stand there and look around at the mass of buildings surrounding me.
"Why do schools have to be so big.." I mumble under my breath as I let out a sigh.
The bell rings and i'm stuck standing there still not knowing which way to go. People are rushing and pushing past each other all around me racing to get to class. It looks like a pack of hungry lions racing to catch the deer. I would say not even a minute later and the place looks like a ghost town. There's no one outside or in the corridors.
"Lost?" Feeling startled I jump a little. I can feel a tall presence standing behind me and I slowly turn around.
The man that had just scared me was standing there with an amused look on his face. He stood there at least 6 foot tall and had a weird mustache thing going on.
