"Hey mom, hi dad. Can I ask you something?" Betty entered the kitchen with Jughead and it still startled me how much they looked like me and...oh what did it matter to reminisce about the past. I sighed and drank from my cup of coffee. "Mom?" I looked up and smiled. "Yes, Betty? What's the question?" "Can I go with Jughead to Veronica's open mic night?" "Have you finished your homework?" I asked and she nodded. "Then I don't see why not. Just be home at midnight." She nodded and came over to hug Hal and me. "I'm going to my dad. He needed me for something. I'll see you tonight." Jughead kissed Betty before greeting us and leaving the house. Betty went upstairs and Hal put down his paper. "So an open mic at La Bonne Nuit? Why don't we go too? It's been a while since we went out." Hal proposed and I shrugged. "I don't know. I don't want to ruin Betty's date." "We don't have to sit with her. Let's just get a booth on the other side?" "I'll think about it." Hal nodded and went to work on the car. Suddenly Betty called from upstairs. "Mom, can you help me getting ready?" "I'm coming, honey."
"Thank you for the help, mom." Betty looked at me through the mirror. "Are you planning on singing tonight?" I asked while I closed the palettes. "I'm not sure yet. I know Veronica, Kevin, Cheryl, Archie and mister Andrews with misses Lodge will sing. Oh and Jug's dad too but he isn't sure which song yet." Surprised I stopped cleaning up. "FP is going to sing?" Betty nodded and then turned to me. "Are you and dad coming too?" "We don't know yet." Hal just popped in and smiled at Betty. "You look stunning." "Don't touch me, dad. You're dirty." She chuckled and Hal backed off. "You know, maybe we will. You're right, Hal. A night out might do us good." Hal smiled and quickly went to shower. "I guess I'm going to get ready then." I gave Betty a kiss and went to get changed. I didn't know what I was thinking but I suddenly felt the urge to see FP. I knew it was wrong and I knew we had our chances but I simply had to. Even if it was only to hear him sing again after all those years. I put on a fitting cream-coloured dress just above my knees and short sleeves, cream louboutines and some jewelry. Then I sofly curled my hair and put on some darker make up, finishing it up with some burgundy lipstick, FP's favourite colour. I wanted him to know I was there for him. Betty entered my room and squealed. "Mom, you look amazing." I smiled. "So I called Jug and he and his dad are going to La Bonne Nuit already. I told him I'd come with you two." I nodded. "So has FP found a song then?" Betty nodded. "He has. When I called Jug, he apparently found one. Anyway, I'll check if dad's clean and then we can leave." "Alright, I'll get my purse."
We went down the stairs and entered the 20's themed bar of Veronica. It still amazed me to see how beautiful it was. "Misses Cooper, are you going to sign up too?" Reggie asked as he took our coats. "Oh dear God no. I can't sing." I chuckled. "Nonsense, Alice, you sing beautiful! You were the lead in Grease remember? You nailed it." Hal said excitedly. "Well then you simply must sing tonight. Do you have a song in mind?" "Go pick one, sweetheart, I'll go get us a booth " Hal reassured before walking off. Reggie held a paper up and waited for me to name a song. I bit my lip and took a deep breath. "Bound to you." Reggie raised impressed an eyebrow. "I'm looking forward to that, misses Cooper. You're after mister Jones. Good luck." He winked as I left to find Hal.
The whole place was packed but luckily enough Hal found us a great spot on the right pretty close to the stage. The performances were great and Betty decided to do a duet with Veronica and it was beautiful. I was so proud of my daughter and Hal clearly enjoyed it too. "Alright ladies and gentlemen, may I have an applause for FP Jones." I quickly sat up a bit straighter so I had a good look at FP. I could tell he was nervous. He was going through his hair a lot, something he also did during our Grease performance. Though I couldn't calm him down the same way I did back then. He looked around the room and he suddenly caught my eye. He looked surprised but then smiled unsure and I smiled softly back. Then he took a deep breath and I immediately knew the song. It was the song he sang to me when he asked me to prom. Not that it was such a romantic song but it meant so much to me back then and it still does. God it does even more now. It just fits so well now.
I'm gonna try for an uptown girl
She's been living in her white bread world
As long as anyone with hot blood can
And now she's looking for a downtown man
That's what I amAnd when she knows
What she wants from her time
And when she wakes up
And makes up her mindShe'll see I'm not so tough
Just because
I'm in love with an uptown girl
You know I've seen her in her uptown world
She's getting tired of her high class toys
And all her presents from her uptown boys
She's got a choiceDuring his performance he kept looking at me and I knew he meant that song for me. After his song I noticed I had tears in my eyes. I quickly wiped them away without Hal noticing and stood up to applaud. "I forgot he could sing too." Hal said. "Me too, me too." I softly whispered. FP got off the stage and sat down with Fred and Hermione who recently rekindled their love as they're officially both divorced now. They looked over but I pretended to look at the stage. "And now our final performance, misses Alice Cooper with Bound to you." "Good luck, sweetheart." Hal kissed my cheek and I got up on the stage. Betty looked surprised but excited and was holding up her thumbs to encourage me. I smiled and looked over at FP. I subtlety winked and I saw him raising an eyebrow before I started singing my song. I looked at him during my song, to show him that this was my reply to his song. I put all my emotions in it and he understood. I saw he understood and even though I knew it was bad, I didn't care at that moment. I ended my song and everyone was clapping. Blushing I got off the stage and Hall kissed me. "You were perfect up there, Alice. Just like I knew you would." "Thank you, Hal." I kissed him back even though I didn't want to.
After the singing people sticked around to talk and drink but Hal was tired. "Well I'm going to talk to Hermione and I'll ask Fred for a lift. You take Betty home." He nodded and kissed me goodnight before finding Betty. Suddenly my phone vibrated and I opened my messages.
Meet me upstairs. - FPWith butterflies in my stomach I subtlety walked upstairs. I didn't see anyone until I felt a hand grabbing me into the locker room. I turned around and saw FP with a whirlwind of emotions on his face. "Alice, what was tha-" I didn't let him finish his sentence and just kissed him. I needed him, I wanted him and I knew he felt the same. "Alice, are you sure this is a good idea?" He said catching his breath. "Probably not but We both know I'm not good at making good decisions." He smirked and picked me up and sat me down on a cupboard. I clenched my legs around his hips while unbuttoning his shirt as he unzipped my dress. We didn't part from our kiss and I was craving for him. Soon enough our clothes were off and we were moving in a synchronized rhythm. 25 years had passed but it felt like nothing had changed. "I missed you, Al." He said while moving in and out. "I missed you too, Jonesy." I kissed him again and soon we hit our climax. Panting we leaned our heads against each other and we smirked. "I need a round two." I said while seductively biting my bottom lip. FP's smirk grew wider and he nodded. "But not here, let's go back to my trailer. Jug is staying over with Archie." "I love the way you think, Jonesy." I smiled before kissing him again. "And I love you." I looked up surprised and he frowned. "I mean..." Then I smiled and kissed him again. "I love you too, Jonesy. I don't think I ever stopped."
