Jake must have heard what Will was saying because he 'uh huhhed'. I laughed and smiled at him. Soon afterwards Will came out of the gym. He came over to us. I walked up to him and hugged him. He was hesitant at first, because of the fact that Jake was giving him the stink eye. I shot Jake a bird from behind my back and he laughed.
"Thank you so much Will. You have no idea what that meant to me. I know that you'll be a great bodyguard. I already trust you with my life. Which is saying a lot coming from me." he nodded his head again and so did Jake. I knew Jake was agreeeing with the last thing I said.
"Jake, can we go home now? I'm tired and I want to go to sleep." he laughed and shook his head. "Syd, you sleep all the time. I don't see how you do it." I narrowed my eyes at him.
"I'll have you know, I do not sleep all the time! If you wouldn't wake me up to come to school then I wouldn't be so tired." his eyes got big. I just loved playing tricks on him. "Believe me Syd. If I didn't have to wake you up I wouldn't! You are sooooo NOT a morning person. Wasn't it just this morning you were complainig about how I was gonna make you fat?" Will laughed and I gave him a dirty look. He shuttup as soon as he saw me. I almost fell to the floor laughing. Jake leaned over and whispered in Will's ear.
"She may act like she's big, but her height always tells on her. People are actually scared of her until they see her." I could hear every word he was saying. Jake had never been good with whispering. I walked over to him and slapped him as hard as I could on his left arm. It must have hurt because he grimaced then turned and faced me. I was so screwed was the only thought running through my head. Next thing I know I'm running and Will is right beside me. I'm a da*n cheerleader and I was struggling while he looked like he could run all day and never lose his breath. He looked over at me and motioned something with his hand. I gave him the 'huh?' look and he grabbed my hand and pulled me onto his back. He was still running while we did this little trick and I was kind of scared. As soon as I was on his back he took off going ten times faster than he was when he was running beside me. I was holding on for dear life. I looked back and saw Jake still running. He was almost catching up with us. He looked like he was about to collapse. I tapped Will's shoulder and told him to slow down. He did and soon enough we came to a complete stop. I was breathing really heavy, but Will on the other hand was standing there breathing normally like we had just slowly walked that half mile around the school. Soon enough Jake came up and he was gasping for breath. He came over to me and hunched over with his hands on his knees.
"I'm" gasp. "Going" gasp. "To" gasp. "Get" gasp. "You!" gasp. I was trying to conceal my smile. He sounded really funny talking like that. Will had a partial smile on his face as well. He looked at Will then and pointed. He was finally talking normal.
"I don't know where they trained you at, but they must've almost killed all of you. I don't see how your not gasping for breath right now." I laughed a little at that.
"Well Jake. I guess your not a beast anymore are you? What happened to 'I'm a beast?' I thought you were bulletproof." he gave me a really sad smile.
"Not even beasts are bulletproof Syd. You should know that." It took all of me not to start crying right then. I knew they weren't. Josh was a prime example of it. I just wasn't expecting Jake to say that. I looked over at Will and he had an angry look on his face. He went over to Jake and grabbed him by the collar.
Will's POV
This prick was getting on my nerves. He didn't have to say that to her. I've been around here long enough I know how close the Clarke brother and sister were. I don't care if Jacob did hire me. There is no way he is going to talk to her like that. I grabbed him by the collar and drug him around the corner. He pushed me away from him and bowed up. Sydney came around the corner crying. Huge tears were streaming down her face. I whispered knowing she couldn't hear me.
