Nurse's Office

I woke up to a comfy surface on my back and a white sheet over me. Around me were pink curtains, and I could faintly see one silhouette at a desk. I sit up and the figure turns around and starts to walk over to me. She slid open the curtain. She was a Yōkai called a Tennyo. She had pitch black hair and was slightly levitating off the ground. She wore a very short purple belly shirt and a pink dress. On her arms, there were gold bracelets that she put on her arm and wrist on both sides. Behind her hair, thin, pink ribbons came out and into a bow shape.

"A-are you okay??" she asked in a shaky voice.

I was relatively good at reading people and she was obviously a very shy type of person.

"Y-yeah," I said in reply.

I turned my head toward the clock on the desk I saw earlier and was relieved that not much time had passed since I had fainted and it was now 11:50 a.m. My nose wasn't bleeding anymore though.

Can she use healing magic? I wondered and my question was answered immediately.

"Y-you should probably get to class, I healed you so you should be fine for the rest of the day," she stuttered.

"Ah! Yeah, thanks, but.." I started, trying to think of an excuse, "I'm new to this school so I don't know where to go."

"Oh! W-well, what's the class you were assigned to?" she asked.

"Erm... well...," I stuttered. "My first day is tomorrow so, I'm just looking around."

"Oh! O-okay then. Well, I hope you enjoy it here." she said warmly.

I got up from the bed and she walked me out to the door. I thanked her and she wished me well. The halls were empty again. I headed towards the front of the school, all the while thinking if I wanted to come back here. It might be good to get out of my house every day and maybe I would enjoy it here. I looked at the classroom doors, memorizing some of the names written on them for later if I came back. When I stepped out of the front doors, the gate was open and there were Yōkai scattered across the yard, in small groups. I walked out of the gates without anyone giving me a second glance, so I assumed that leaving campus was allowed. I imagined that it was lunchtime because the Yōkai all had little bags in their backpacks and were getting them out. Outside the gates, there were more Yōkai that followed humans and stole their food when they weren't looking. This spot seemed like a fun spot for humans to hang out by because there was a park with a lake nearby that had a few vending machines spread around it.

I was feeling very happy while walking home for some reason. Maybe it was because I spent some time away from my parents. I got home and opened the door. My parents were at the table, each eating a sandwich, and I just walked past them to my room without saying anything. I thought about what I should do with my new discovery.

Should I go back there? It seems like a good place to spend my time, and I might learn something. I wondered.

I looked at my broken phone and went to the clock app. It was then I realized that I didn't even know when the school opened the gates. I rotated through the time segments, thinking of a time early enough that my parents wouldn't be awake, but not too early so that I would have to wait outside the gates for a long time. My mom was an author so she didn't have to get up at any specific time in the morning.

Okay, it takes me about thirty minutes to get to the school, or more depending on whether or not I can find it again. My mom was up at 8 a.m. this morning so maybe... 7 a.m. would be a good time to leave. I reasoned.

I set the alarm and placed my phone back down on my pillow. The pillow looked very comfortable for whatever reason. My body crashed onto the blanket and, although it somewhat hurt, I fell asleep. Whether it was because I was tired or up to another emotion, I stayed in bed till the next morning.

(It took me forever to draw the chapter art for this one because I'm lazy and don't want to do anything, but I finished so yeah, good job me for getting your lazy ass outta bed)
