"Shane?" There was no answer.
"Shane!?" Terror filled Dean's mind. He didn't know where she was. He couldn't find any sign of her.
"Shane!?!?!"
------------------
Dean slammed the beer glass into the table. It'd been three years since he'd lost Shane after that car crash. It was still killing him not knowing what had happened. It'd been so sudden, too. One second she was there, complaining about the stinging in her arm from the cuts, the next....
"Dean? Have you even been listening to me," Sam asked raising an eyebrow at his brother.
"Huh? Yeah, I'm listening," He rolled his eyes as he took another sip of his beer.
"Ok, Mary Harrison, former social services worker, thirteenth victim, slit her own throat in her bathtub.."
Dean's eyes were wandering around the bar, his mind drifting through his own throughs. What was he thinking about? The same thoughts that had been haunting him for months. Where was Shane? Had she gotten hurt? What happened to her? How could I have let her disappear?
"Dean! People are going missing, dying and you're not even paying attention."
"I told you, Sam, I've been istening. It doesn't sound like much of a case."
Sam shrugged. "Ellen said she wanted someone to check it out. I told her we'd look into it."
"Sam," Dean sighed and rubbed his temples, "these, don't even seem related. I mean, people commit suicide, go missing and turn up dead all the time."
"Could be a shapeshifter. It'd fit their pattern. According to the reports I've read, these people aren't the suicide type."
"I don't know, Sam-"
"We've gone on less."
Dean closed his eyes and scowled. He didn't want to go on this job, but he knew that Sam wouldn't let it go.
"Dean, we've got to at least look into it."
Dean sighed, "Fine. We'll look into it. Where's the first one?"
-------------------------
Cold water rushed over her skin as she washed the blood off of her hands. One more gone. Only four left. Just four more.
She filled her cupped hands with water and splashed water on her face. The water turned pink as it fell into the sink. Her blue eyes were filled with anger and a sick form of glee. Her blonde hair had fragments of dried blood in it. The skin around her left eye was black and puffy.
She looked at her reflection in the mirror and smiled a wicked grin.
"Just four more. Then they're over."
