The Mistake

Prologue

I looked around and saw snow on the mountains. It look orange in the sunrise making it look like a artwork. The lake is a cerulean blue with trees and beaches surrounded the lake. I always came to Moraine Lake to think or swim because of the beauty and the noises made me calm. For those who don't know, Moraine Lake is found Banff, Alberta Canada.

Today I plan to go swimming with my friends, Jessica (Jess), Matthew (Matt) and Jack. We all go swimming every second weekend or we go cliff jumping. I'm 15 so is Jess and Matt, and Jack is 14. We all go to Banff Community High School, home of the Bears.

Matt and Jack are rugby players, Jack is the captain while Matt is the hooker. Jess and I are cheerleaders, I'm the captain and Jess is a flyer. Before you wonder, no we are not the popular group, we're the opposite, outcasts. Jack is hot but not the hottest in school, Matt is bulky but nobody pays attention to the hooker. Jess is really hot but very shy/awkward and I'm just the nerd who is a cheerleader.

"Hailey!". "Jess!" I yell back running to my best friend. "Where's my hug?" "Sorry Jack I only hug friends" I reply hugging Matt. "That's it" Jack says while picking me up edging slowly to the water. "No Stop!" I yell. "Only if you hug me" Jack chuckles. "Ok" I reply slowly while being put back down onto dry land. I didn't hug him, I ran. I took off my clothes while running as had a bikini under then jumped into the water with Jack following me, it didn't take him long as he's faster than me.

Before I could get fully underwater someone pulled me up and dragged me back to land. "I'm not letting go until you hug me back" I realized it was Jack so I kicked him in the family jewels. "You -" "Jack and Hailey stop flirting!" Jess stopped our fight before he ended up hurt like last time.

"Let's swim eggs" I say walking into the beautiful lake. I heard the boys run and splash into me causing me to almost drown. I got so annoyed so I tripped them up. "Hailey Rose Davis you're going to pay for that" Matt yelled chasing me further into the water. Matt may be fast on dry land but everyone knows I'm the best swimmer.

"Jack, Jess stop kissing and help me" I heard Matt yell while I was running, I stopped at looked to Jack and Jess laughing. Before I could run away Matt put me over his shoulder and dragged me back to dry land. Once I was back on my feet Matt said "You will pay" then kissed me on the lips. I stood there stunned until I pushed him away. I looked at him so shocked my own friend kissed me, my first kiss.

"Hail, I'm sorry but you had to know" Jack said while Matt walked away angry with Jess. "Know what?" I asked curious. "Matt likes you, a lot. He has for a while now but was to scared to say anything". "I need to talk to him don't I?" I reply. Jack just nodded. I ran to Matt, took me ages to reach him and Jess. "Jess can I speak to him alone please?" I ask. "We both need to tell you something so no" She replied looking at Matt.

"Hail, Jack and I date, we have for 2 weeks now" Jess said looking down. I hugged her so proudly "You should have told me, well done" I say laughing. She looked so stunned then walked away, leaving Matt and I alone. "I'm sorry" We both say at the same time. "You first" I say. "I'm sorry for not telling you then kissing you infront of everyone. Then also stealing your first kiss" Matt apologize looking at me. "Matt it's ok. I'm happy I know now" I start "I'm sorry I pushed you away". He looked at me so stunned. I looked at him, leaned in and BAMM I kissed him. It wasn't clique, it was just blish tho.

He pulled away to breath "Hail, do you even like me?" He puzzled. "Matt, I've liked you since I was 14" I state ashamed, looking down at my bare feet. "Hail, you should have told me".

"Hailey and Matt you done?" I heard Jess call from behind the corner. "Just come over here" Matt shouts. Jess and Jack came out holding hands making me smile. "So are we all dating or just us?" Jack asked. "Bro, calm down. I haven't asked yet" Matt scowls causing me to laugh. "Well, Hail. Do you want to date Matt?" Jack asked. I laughed "He has to ask himself.". "Do you want to go out?" Matt asked. "Well that depends, will you take me on a date to Macca's?" I laugh with Jess. "Yeah if you say yes" Matt challenges. "Well, Jess and Jack, I'm going to be a good friend and tell you both asap unlike you too, Matt and I are dating" I blush and chuckle.

"Oi, I was gonna tell you" Jess and Jack say. "Mhm that's what we all say" Matt says. We all start to laugh while swimming.
