Chapter 7

Jai pov....

I really couldn’t believe what i just heard. Who would do something like that to a girl like Lexie? I was running what she said through my head, and then i heard the front door slam shut. I turned my head to look at Lexie but she was gone. I shot up out of my chair, i ran for the front door. The cold air hit my face as i bolted down the street after Lexie. Damn this girl was fast.

Lex pov....

I heard Jai running behind me, but i knew that i could out run him since i was the captain of the track the years in a row. I had no idea where i was going. I rounded a corner and saw a train station. I ran up the steps. A train was about to take off, the doors were about to close, i only just slipped in. I turned around and saw Jai out the window paying for a ticket and probably waiting for the next train. Where was i going?

*Few hours later*

It calls Cheltenham station over the loud speaker on the train. I have sat in this seat for a few hours. I think it’s time to get off. I stepped off the train and head to one of the benches beside the tracks. It’s been sunny but cold all day, but just as i sit down it starts to rain. I sat there for ten minutes. I felt a hand wrap around my damp shoulder, I look up and find Jai. “Are you ok?”

Jai pov....

I had been on the train behind Lexie for what seemed like forever. Every time the train stopped i would carefully examine the train station to see if Lexie got off. I wasn’t going to give up, I can’t. I slowly drifted to sleep before the train took off from Cheltenham. I lifted my eyes one last time. There was a figure on the bench beside the tracks. I stared at.... her closely. Just before the train took off, i realized it was Lexie. I jumped from my seat and bolted for the door. I only just made it, i gathered myself up (Like woke myself up) then i slowly walked over to her. She was shivering from the rain. I put my arm over Lexie trying to comfort her; she’d been through a lot. “Are you ok?” i could feel her shivering whilst i held her. “I don’t know... It happened so long ago but it still feels like yesterday”... “Why did you even go out with him anyway?” I asked. She rested her head on my chest then sighed “Alex and i have been friends since i could remember” she took a breath then continued. “We did everything together. When we got old my best friend Lily told me that Alex had a crush on me. I was really happy because i had a crush on him too. Everyday i would worry about how i looked and dressed. Then on my birthday her asked me out.” I noticed a tear slid down her face. I wiped the tear away with my thumb. “Breathe” she took a deep breath. “Good. Do you want to continue?” she nodded. “I was so head over heels for him, that i never noticed he was trying to pressure me into doing things. He would take me to parties and get me drunk. Even though i was drunk i never did anything i would regret. This is so not like me, telling a guy i just met yesterday my whole life story.”

Lex pov....

I was so overwhelmed, with what had happened today. Seeing Alex.... Running to the park to meet Jai.... Then Jai and i kissed. Am i falling for Jai? And then there was Jai and Alex’s fight. It’s too much!

“It’s okay Lexie, You can trust me. Stay at mine whenever you need, call or text me whenever you need me okay? It might take awhile for me to gain your trust. I will do whatever it takes to protect.”

It’s going to be hard trusting Jai. It even took me awhile to trust my best friends. After that we decided to go to the park in Cheltenham. “We should get home.” I suggested. “Your right” we stood up and walked back to the train station. Hand in Hand, we got off the train and walked home. As we turned into my street, i gripped Jai’s hand tighter. We walked into the house. It was silent.
