Haradan looked out over Tatooine ocean as the second sun set casting a blood red hue on the sky before it inevitably turned black. Haradan was a Kumumgah. Their histories told of a time when their ancestors fell from that night sky. And though Tatooine had been their home for countless generations the Kumumgah never forgot where they came from. The Elders tought them the song of their origin in the stars at every festival, evry holiday, anny celebration of any kind. Haradan had heard it so many times he could recite himself word for word from memory. never really mattered to him Until three nights ago when something else fell from the sky.
Haradan's father, Curroken, ordered his son to join the exploration party. The Kumumgah had no technology that could easily transverse the rugged Tatooine jungle. Only the mammelian, giant birds that had long lost the ability to fly, could take them with any great speed. Their long slender lags easily leaping from branch to branch. Looking at the Kumumgah ridding over the thick jungle floor, covered in war paint, with crude looking weapons at their side, had made many travelers think they had come across a primitive culture, nothing was further from the truth. The Kumumgah were far from primitive.
Haradan rode over the final cliff to look down at the wreckage of the space vessel. He had never traveled by such a vessal, No Kumumgah had used them sense they crashed on Tatooine. Hadaden had traveled to many different worlds though. He was explorer caste. Shortly after the Kumumgah arrived on Tatooine they discover the ancient celestial gateway. Only a precious few Kumumgah could operate the gates. But more then simply open them to gates of the Celestial network, those Kumumgah who could open the celestial gates could open the gates of any species who used similar technology. Those who had such ability where known as Skywalker 's. Every member of Hadaden's immediate family had been a Skywalker; all but Hadaden. After being tested several times to his fathers great disappointment Hadaden proved unable to even sense the energies used to conjure the gates. Reluctantly his father excepted his sons inadequacies and used his influence to get him into the Explorer clan, and barely acknowledged his son sense.
Explorers were the first through the gates when a Skywalker opened a new gate. They were the ones who navigated the rugged jungles of Tatooine. The one who founded new settlements, took back the land from the beasts who would keep it. And on nights like this they were the ones who investigated infringements on the Kumumhah home world. It was an honor, unless you got it because your overbearing father used his power to get you in, then it was a disgrace.
The ship was long and silver. The hull had been cracked open in several places, some parts where blackened by from whatever had caused the crash. There in the wreck stood a tall amphibious alien creature with eye stalks protruding from its strange head. Haradan knew what he was seeing and had the good sense to fear it. Everyone knew the Rakata. Though the Kamumgah had never encounter them they had heard of them in their travels.
"Approach with caution." Merrilly ordered. Though she did not need to warn them.
"The Rakata must be killed." Anthor demanded. "If it has found a way to our world it will be only a matter of time before it brings the Infinite Empire down upon us."
"The infinite Empire is not known for picking fights it cannot easily win. I won't kill a sentient creature without at least talking... ack.." Merilly's face contorted painfully as she crasped her throat, clearly chocking.
"Merilly!" Anthor screamed, rushing to her side.
"You won't find me so constrained by your foolish morality." An amphibious voice called from the fallen craft. The Rakata had spotted them and was heading their way. It's head protruded from flowing dark blue robes that glinted in the blood red dusk of the second sun.
"Kill him!" Anthor ordered, igniting his light saber and charging headlong at the oncoming Rakata. The other members of Haradan's party charged in suit, their light sabers casting a glowing blue and yellow streak across the sky as they moved. Only Haradan had stepped back.
