On April 23rd, Evan, a cute 21 year old guy, was sitting on a grey, metal park bench. His scruffy, light brown hair was blowing in the spring breeze and his big, brown eyes were fixated on the book he was reading. Despite the park being a usually noisy place: with people playing games, children running around, their mother's gossiping etc, today was quite calm and relaxing with only a few children running around. Evan was special, he was a Puppy, these people were quite a rare race, when they turn 16, they start growing ears and tails. Evan's ears stuck straight up and were all hairy but quite small, his tail, however, was quite long and bushy, it was light brown with a white tip, which also blew in the breeze. As well as these physical changes, they'd also gain dog like senses, heightened hearing, smell and eye-sight.

Amongst the quiet, Evan's little ears picked up an upsetting sound. He heard the cries of a little boy, he looked around and saw a little boy, no older than 5 but no younger than 3, he was on the floor, holding his leg and wailing. Evan, who was too kind for his own good, rushed over to the young boy. As Evan approached the young boy, he looked at him with large, watery, slightly lighter eyes than Evan, it was a look of pure sadness. Evan pulled a tissue out of his pocket, smiling, "What happened here then?" The little boy, just looked at him and then pointed at his knee. "Aw no, better get that all clean, haven't we?" Evan said, smiling. He cleaned up the blood that had already spilt out of the little cut, whilst he did he tried talking to the boy, making jokes and getting him to smile and giggle. Evan had always wanted a kid, he wanted a little boy and to call him Darren. When all the blood was cleaned, Evan pulled out a plaster from his pocket, he would always carry these around because he was very clumsy and would always be accidentally cutting himself or injuring himself. He put the plaster on the little boy, and told him to go tell his dad that he had fell but it's okay now. Evan helped the little boy off the ground and watched him run off, before checking his watch, "Crap, 9:15, already!"

He ran out the park and down the street to the local college, "Pupstar" It helped Puppies with their new senses, if you became a Puppy you had to attend for at least 3 years. He could see the dark red, bricked building at the end of the street and picked up pace. Closer. Closer. Closer. And there! This was his first class and he was very nervous, especially as he was 5 minutes late, he was debating on skipping just to avoid the awkward situation. He took a deep breath, in and hold for three seconds and out and hold for three seconds which he repeated at least 5 times. Now 6 minutes late. He shook his head hard and confidently took the handle, confidently turned the gold, door handle, confidently opened the black door, and awkwardly shuffled into the classroom. Everyone's heads snapped to the direction of Evan, he went scarlet red, and faced the floor. He wished he could just turn invisible, this wish became his only one after he bumped a table, causing it to screech along the laminated floor. He stood at the back, still scarlet and alone. Everyone else had already gotten into pairs which made Evan even more awkward as he was alone.

The professor was a tall, slim woman. She had short, blonde, shiny hair and medium, dark blue eyes. She, like everyone else in the room, was a Puppy, she had huge, floppy ears but a small rat like tail which stuck out her black pant suit. She smiled at Evan, "Welcome, I'm Professor Moonstar but please just call me Susie." Just as she finished talking, the door swung open and a rather tall man walked in. He had black hair, which was swooped up, medium, brown (almost black) eyes. He had a really handsome face with a very sharp jawline. He was wearing a red t-shirt that showed off his very muscular body and was tight around his arms, dark blue, ripped jeans and black converse. He whispered something to Susie and she nodded to the back of the room while whispering something back. He bended down and Evan could hear his rather deep voice say "Sit in the back and please don't make a mess or interrupt. Your tablet is fully charged, here." Evan couldn't see who he was talking too, because of the people in front. As the mysterious man stood up, Evan heard little foot-steps running towards him. A little boy appeared from behind the group of people, he had brown hair and slightly lighter eyes than Evan's. It was the little boy he had helped earlier, Evan smiled at him and to his surprise the little boy pointed and yelled, "Daddy, look it's the man who helped my leg." and then ran to the back corner of the room and played on his tablet. This drew the attention back to Evan, which, again, made him go scarlet.

Susie broke the silence, "Well, you in the back you don't have a partner, do you?" Evan's eyes widened and he slowly shook his head.

"Great, you can work with him" She placed a hand on the man's back. He smiled at Evan as he started strolling towards him, the puppies moved out of his way, whispering to their partners.
