I am going to get daddy alright?
She said you wait right here I am coming back for you
She told him
Finally,
He was going to see his own replica
With a lollipop in his mouth
All he could do was shake his head with enthusiasm
Ecstatic joy sparkling in his minute eyes
He watched his mother's God-given sculptured body grow smaller as the sun disappeared into the horizon
His lollipop now a memory,
The crescent moon smiling down upon him
He refused to be crestfallen
Mummy fears the dark
She will arrive with the rising of the sun
I will wait right here
When she comes and doesn't find me, where she left me
She will get hysterical and beat me up for making her panicky, sad and angry
He has love-scars as proof of her love for her only child
He was groggy, red-eyed and every fibre in his body shivered in the cold night
But he had to stay awake till sunrise
He was not being small-minded
He was in love with his mother
The love of your life does not lie and leave
They promise and come back
Sunrise came and went,
His stomach grumbling
Though filled with butterflies he was still hunger-stricken
He was fighting the hunger pangs
Hunger for his mother's embrace and reassurance
And still he stood stock-still
A spell of dizziness threatened to blanket his mind
The tears silently treading down his cheeks mocked him
They made fun of his love
A love he could not extinguish, yet not reciprocated
At the age of six,
He refused to believe in the cruelty of the world
He refused to accept it was possible
That the one you considered your goddess
Would not have the decency to cover her face
As she stabbed you in the heart over and over again
With every passing second of her absence
But his heart was still beating for her
It was not being foolish or naïve
It was believing in a bond so strong and true
Nothing or no one could break it
He had to survive for her, for she would certainly come back
His eyes never turned glassy
They still sparkled with love
The streets became his temporary home
The rags his clothes until mummy could give him a bath and change of clothes
The infected river kept him hydrated
The society always put something in the pile of garbage to keep him full
Yes, the world did care
It provided to keep him fit as he waited
Even when diseases played around with his body
Mother Nature always helped him survive
Yes they kept his hope burning in his heart
Four thousand, three hundred and eighty three days later
He still makes sure that at the break of dawn
He is at the exact spot where mommy-goddess left her angel
She is afraid of the dark, so it always has to be morning when she reappears
Maybe she has lost her way and is trying to find me
Maybe daddy, my apparent replica is further than she expected
Maybe she decided to buy me my favourite biscuits and the queue in the supermarket is never-ending
Maybe the dairy farm that produces the only yoghurt I like is waiting for the cow to give in so it can pasteurize the yoghurt I so love
Whatever the case, mommy will come back to me
With daddy by her side
Twelve years later,
With every passing image, not as perfect as mother's
His heart still rages on with hope
Hope stronger than the day before
That she will find her way back to him......
