Chapter 65

Katia sat in front of the mirror in the bride's room.  She could hardly believe that the day had come.  Her wedding day.  She was marrying Liam Payne.  Something she never imagined or even could figure out as to how and why.  She loved him.  She was truly in love with him, but a big part of her knew she would always be in competition with her sister.  She also knew that Liam would always and forever be in love with Kaia.  But she knew that he loved her in his own way and he made her happy.  And for her, that was seemingly enough.  There were times when she felt ashamed of it.  Felt weak because of it.  Knowing that she could never meet up the challenge of being better than her sister.  But she also loved her sister.  Unconditionally.  

She never imagined having a sister.  Having a family.  She thought she would forever be alone in this world.  Not only did she have a sister, a father, a loving brother in law, she also had two adorable nephews and a beautiful niece.  As well as an older brother.  But that relationship she knew would take some time to get used to.

Bruce's brother and sister and their families had flown in from the East Coast for the wedding, and they had all immediately welcomed both Katia and Kaia into the family.  There were many tears of happiness.

Liam's entire family had flown in.  His parents, his sisters and their husbands as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.  Their 'small' wedding wasn't all that small anymore.  There were also friends of Liam's from the music business as well as some other friends and celebrities.  Simon was there too.  Katia hated to admit how nervous she was at meeting him.

Janice and Frankie were there also.  She couldn't help but smile to herself as had watched her sister struggle trying to be nice to Frankie.  It warmed her heart that Kaia was getting along a little better with Janice.  She knew they'd had lunch a few times and also quite a few talks about her growing up with Summer and what their lives were like as children and teenagers.  It had seemed to help settle Kaia a bit.  She, on the other hand, was okay for now with letting their mother rest in peace.

She looked at herself in the mirror.  Her makeup and hair were done and all she had to do was put her dress on.   She couldn't help but feel a little sick to her stomach.  Her nerves were shot.  She'd already had visits from Zayn and the children.  Kaia had been in and out so many times she couldn't even count.  The last she had seen her was over forty-five minutes ago when she told her she was going to go get dressed.

Katia stood up and glanced out the window.  She could see in a short distance people milling about.  Laughing.  Drinking champagne.  She smiled when she saw Liam talking with Zayn, Louis, and Niall who had flown in from New York.  He'd been working on his solo album.  The only ones missing were Marian, Harry, and Faith.  But given Marian's still recovering from her heart transplant, she understood.  They'd had a few phone conversations the past weeks about a lot of things.  Katia smiled as she looked at her soon to be husband.  He looked so handsome in his tuxedo.  It was one of the things she insisted that she wanted him to wear.

Knock knock.

Katia jumped when she heard the quick knocks on the door and when it opened a little.

"Kat, are you decent?" Kaia asked as she poked her head in with a smile.

"Um, yeah," Katia said and moved away from the window.  She couldn't help but gasp when she saw her sister.  She looked stunning in her bridesmaid dress.  She had recently dyed her hair back to the dark chocolate brown color.  Katia had a feeling she did it to make them look not so much alike although Kaia told her that Zayn liked her hair darker.  Her hair was piled in curls on her head, with small curls falling elegantly around her neck.  "Kaia, you look beautiful."

Kaia waved her off.  "If you say so," she said as she shut the door behind her.  "You my beautiful sister are going to be stunning in your dress.  Liam is going to fall over," she said with a smile.  "I can't wait for him to see you."
