A Fake Friendship

Theo's POV

It was now lunch. Mr. Lafayette was a great substitute! I hope he sticks around here. I was walking with Angie to our usual lunch table. I told her what George did to me earlier.

"Theo, have you told Pip about this?"

"No..."

"Theo you have to! It'll just keep on getting worse."

"I know Angie but, knowing Pip won't he take it a little too far?"

"Well yeah that's 'cause he li-" She stopped mid-sentence and covered her mouth with her hand.

"'Cause he what?"

"Uhm because he's overprotective of his friends..."

I knew that's not what she was originally going to say.

"Angie, that's not what you were going to say before..."

"I uh.... Oh look it's Susan!" I saw Susan coming over.

"Hey Theo, hey Angie mind if I sit here? I don't know where else to go, all my other friends ditched me."

"Oh sure!" I said smiling at her.

"Can we be friends from now on?"

"Of course!" Me and Angie both replied.

"Can I tell you a secret?" She said leaning in closer towards the table.

"Ooo someone has tea. Spill." Angie said leaning in too, so I did the same.

"Okay. I like Philip." We both gasped. Angie and I exchanged glances, Angie knew about my feelings for Pip so now this is tough.

"Wow, really?" I said leaning back out. Susan nodded. Luckily Frances, Will, and someone new came over.

"Hey guys this is Georges Lafayette." Will said, sitting down.

"Bonjour je'mappelle Georges." He said.

"Je'mappelle Theodosia, enchanté." I replied leaving him shocked.

"You know French?"

"Oui. Oh is your father a substitute here?"

"Oui. Why do you ask?"

"Oh! I had him as a substitute! He's great."

"Merci beaucoup." Then Philip arrived.

Philip's POV

I joined the lunch table and saw Susan and someone I didn't recognize.

"Oh bonjour je'mappelle Georges Lafayette."

"Je'mappelle Philip."

"You speak French too?"

"Oui, mon ami." I smiled at him.

"Oh Pip Mr. Lafayette is his father!" Theo said, I remembered Mr. Lafayette from this morning and what he told me.

"Really? That's cool." We all ate and talked about random stuff that came to our minds. Soon enough everyone left including Susan. Susan and I did have some small talk but that was it. Will, Frances, and Georges went to do something and Theo went off to the school library. So then, it was just me and Angie.

"So uh... Pip?"

"Yeah Angie?"

"I might've almost told Theo about your crush."

"What?!" My heart started racing. I was terrified until, I was filled with anger.

"Angie I'm going to kill you!" I said, full of rage.

"I'm sorry! Calm down please! You're going to make a scene! And didn't you listen? I said almost."

I started calming down. "You know what it's fine. If she figures it out, she figures it out. There's no changing that."

"Great either way she li-" Angie covered her mouth.

"She what?"

"Uhm..." She bolted away. I chuckled to myself. God she's so funny sometimes. I went to go play soccer in the field.

Theo's POV

I went to the library to read. I also just needed a quiet place to process everything that has happened. So, Susan likes Pip but I do too. Do I tell Pip about my feelings before Susan? Or do I keep quiet... Then, my mind went back to Mr. Lafayette. What did he say to Pip? I spent my whole time in the library trying to figure this out until Susan came. She came and sat in front of me.

"Oh hi Susan." I say smiling at her.

"Okay first of all, shut up. Second, Philip is mine." She said leaning in towards me.

"What do you mean Philip is your-" I got cut off by Susan.

"I told you to shut it Burr. I'm only using you as a pawn to get closer to Philip. Then, once he falls for me, I'm taking you out of the picture." She death stared me. "From now on, you will pretend to be my friend and if you tell Philip... Oh you aren't going to like the consequences." I started filling with anger.

"I'm just saying Susan, Philip will never be able to like you." I say getting up from my seat, grabbing my book as well. "Never in a million years Susan." I exited the library. I went to go find Pip but, I was only going to ask him if he likes Susan. I didn't want to worry him that much, he has a soccer game coming up and he's the best player on the team. I soon found him on the field playing soccer.

"Pip! Come over here!" He stopped playing and came over.

"Hold on guys just a second!" Pip said to the other people he was playing soccer with. "What is it Theo?"

"I just have a question."

"Yeah?"

"Do you like Susan?"

"What? Susan? No, not at all. Never. In fact, I like someone else."

"Ooo you like someone else? Who?!" I asked excited to know.

"Hmmm I'll tell you one day."

"Well either way Susan likes you."

"I was right! I knew she liked me." I laughed a little at what Pip said.

"Looks like Susan made it too obvious. Although I'm just saying Pip, she's not a good person..."

"Yeah I know she isn't. I caught her vibe from when I first met her."

"I have an idea!" I say, my face lighting up. "It's also a way to get back at George."

Pip's face lit up as well. "Tell me."
