Chapter 14 | "Reunited Deckerstar"

Setting: Precinct

Chloe sat at her desk again, worrying if Lucifer was ever going to come back.

"Chloe?" Dan walked over to her. "You okay?"

"Hm? Oh, yeah I'm fine, thanks. It's just... everything feels so different with Lucifer gone."

Dan nodded. "I felt the same way with Charlotte..."

Chloe nodded and looked back to her computer, without saying a word.

Dan seemed to realize she needed time alone, and walked away from her.

"Hey, Chloe!" Ella skipped over to her. "I found... this... hey are you alright?"

Chloe looked at her and forced a slight smile. "I'm fine."

"You don't seem fine." Ella remarked worriedly. "What's up?"

"...Lucifer is dead." Chloe's eyes started to tear up just from saying the words. "But—but please don't tell everyone, I-I don't want this to be another case."

Ella's dark brown eyes went wide in shock, then nodded. "I... I didn't know he was.." she paused, not wanting to hurt Chloe any more than she already was.  "...Here's this." The investigator set down a folder on the detective's desk and then walked away.

Chloe glanced at the folder, but wasn't in the mood for finding evidence right now. She continued to blankly stare at her computer screen.

Meanwhile

Setting: Lucifer's Penthouse

Lucifer woke with a gasp, in sudden realization he's no longer dead. "I'm still in here?" He looked around the penthouse in disbelief, then stood up and walked toward the elevator. "Lux better still be in tact." He snarled.

Setting: Lux

Lucifer walked in from the elevator and glanced around the empty and unlit club. "Seems normal to me."

"Lucifer?"

Lucifer turned toward the sound to see Maze walking toward him, her eyes wide.

"Amenadiel told me you were dead." The demon stared at him.

"I was, in fact. Amenadiel flew me back."

"Amenadiel always has his way of lying to me, doesn't he?" Maze's eyes rolled back.

"Yeah, well... he isn't the 'always truthful' sort of angel."

"You think?!" Maze scoffed sarcastically at him.

"Right, well I'm off to see the detective. See you, Maze." The Devil walked up the staircase.

Setting: Precinct

Lucifer walked over to Chloe's desk. "Detective!"

Chloe's heart skipped a beat. Hearing Lucifer's voice was the best thing that could possibly happen right now. She stood up from her desk, took one look at Lucifer, and immediately hugged him tightly. Her blue eyes filled with joyful tears and her breath became uneven, trying to hold in sobs.

"No, don't cry." Lucifer wrapped his arms around her in attempt to calm her down. He didn't expect Chloe to react this way. "It's okay, detective. I'm better now."

"I-I know." Chloe smiled slightly, happy to see Lucifer living and breathing normally again after witnessing his dreadful death.

Everyone watched as they stood there hugging each other.
