Today is the last day of school, and it's already almost finished. I kept thinking about my upcoming summer vacation with my family. So much that I was not focusing at all on the last bits of knowledge that all my teachers were trying to cram into my mind while they still had time. I was just so excited to have fun with my family and be free from school. Free from teachers, and homework. Free from it all, at least until August, when I would have to start it all over again.
Finally, the school bell rang. I only had one more class to go before the end of the day, and I knew my last teacher was always really relaxed and fun, so I was a little more excited, even though it was algebra class. As I was walking through the hallway to my locker to get my notebook, though, I felt a quick, firm tap on my shoulder. "Oh no," I thought to myself as I instinctively spun around to see the face I hated most in the entire school.
"Oh look, if it ain't Erica," Malik said mockingly. "Got plans for the summer?"
"Yes, actually, and it's none of your business," I replied firmly. I continued walking towards my locker. "Now leave me alone before we both end up late."
"Oh, you'll be fine," Malik said to me in a harsh tone. I tried to step around him, but he kept blocking me from moving past him. I hated that he was taller than me.
