The snow has just finished clearing out. The grasses and flowers bloom with the sun shining brightly upon the Forest trees neighbouring the village of Udov.

It was a harsh winter.

You can hear the birds chirping the sound of the stream flowing and if you listen carefully you can hear the labour cries of the chiefs wife.

"Push, push she is almost here,

just a little bit more "

"No I can't, I can't take it"

"Just a little further, ah hear we go. It's a girl" said the midwife looking at the chief.

She turned to his wife "Do you want to hold her"

"yes yes of course" holding the baby in her arms looking at her husband with tears in her eyes "I shall name her Iona"

With that the first cries of the baby is heard. Then, there the mothers eyes start to close, her breathing slows.

"Arkemese, Arkemese wake up open your eyes" the chief cried out "Take the child take her out "

"Wake up please, please" the chief sobbed on the shoulder of his dead beloved wife.

Then there was a knock on the door,

"Erik come quickly, you need to see this" said the midwife

"Hurry"

He hurriedly went to stand beside her over the cradle looking into it.

The child had what seems to be his beloved wife's features and hair color.

No, no that is not what astonished the woman.

It was the color of her eyes,

Bright orange red.

"No that is impossible, it only happens to the males. And not even all of them, but majority" said the chief with all surprise and astonishment.

"In all my years I have never witnessed a female born with it " said the midwife

With a blink of the child's eye the red turned into the lightest shade of blue, as the woman dead in the other room.

"Erik you know what you must do. never speak the word to any one"

"I know Malinda" said the chief looking down at his new and only prised possession left in this world.

"But she will learn, she has to "
