Chapter 35

**theres only gonna be a few more chapters. No more than 5 I hope**

Storm's POV (first time yay!!)

My hand immediately clutches around my necklace. The one my parents have to me when I was younger.

I vaguely remember my mother telling me that I could change lives with the piece of jewelry. I guess this is what she meant.

Without another thought, I yank at the cord, the clasp breaking free. I look at the necklace one last time before taking Shannon's hand and placing it within her grasp.

She looks up at me with her wide blue eyes. I give her a small smile. "It's yours now. Use the leaves for your cousin" I say as she gapes at me still.

"But, your parents-" she begins, before I cut her off. "They would want you to have it" I say seriously.

Shannon huffs and looks down at the object in her hand. "I can't just take the last thing you have left of them!" She says quietly.

I gently close her fingers around the necklace. "Shan, what kind of person would I be if I kept it and let your cousin remain dead?" I reply softly.

Shannon sighs again. "A normal one" she mutters. However, she finally gives in and hands the necklace to the old wizard. Her uncle puts a hand on my shoulder.

"Thanks kid. You've no idea how much this means to us" he offers me a small smile. Shannon smiles as well.

"Lets get going!" Shannon's mum yells and we all set off toward the cabin.

Shannon's POV

We walk and chat at the same time. And with 30 or so of us, the chatter is a bit more than too loud for the middle of a forest.

At the moment, me, Darcy and the wolf pack are walking ahead of everyone else, goofing around like somewhat normal teenagers.

Above the noise of Alex's terrible rapping, I hear a branch snap just off the path, about 100 feet from where we walk.

I stop. "Did you hear that!?" I ask the others. They all look at me like I'm crazy, so I shrug it off. However, I can't shake off the feeling of getting watched.

We walk and walk until we literally cannot go any further. "How far away exactly is this place?" Uncle Louis complains, lying on the dirt path.

"A little more than halfway I'm guessing" uncle Zayn groans. From where I'm sat up against a tree, I tiredly gaze at everyone sprawled across the ground.

My eyes land on Storm after a moment and I silently watch him. His eyes are closed and his chest is rising and falling with steady breaths, but he's not sleeping.

I can't help but think about how this boy has been invading my thoughts all day. Sure I've had crushes on other guys before, I'm technically almost 16.

(A/N: I changed hers and everyone else's age. Shannon is 16, Darcy is the oldest at 17, Liam and willow are about 12ish and Delilah is the youngest at 10ish)

But I've never felt anything like this before. I feel like I would give up everything to be with Storm, but I'm not sure if he feels the same way.

After a while of pondering, uncle Liam stands up, brushing off his pants. "Well everyone, we'd better get going before it gets too dark" he announces, looking up at the pink sunset.

Begrudgingly, we all get to our feet once more and continue on our long journey back home. Well, to the cabin and then home.

Taking our place again in front of the group, me, Darcy and the boys walk silently. I steal glances at Storm from time to time, but I don't think he realizes.

After more walking, we abruptly come to a stop when one of the girls (Phoenix i think) from the wolf pack trips over a large metal object.

She hisses as the metal burns her skin, scuttling backwards on all fours.

After a closer look, I see that what she tripped over is the giant silver bear trap that I got caught in earlier.

There is still dried blood on the contraption, but that isn't even the worst part.

What scares me the most is that the trap has been reset.

Raines POV

The bear trap made of silver glistens in the dying light, the top turned matte by dried blood. Shannon's blood by the look of her torn up pant leg.

Niall steps forward and inspect the vicious device before grabbing a stick. He hits the inside of the trap with the piece of wood and I snaps shut, making a horrible metal clang.

From not so far away from us, I hear a twig snap in the dense undergrowth of the forest. My breathing quickens and my heart pounds.

Someone's here. And by the trap made of solid silver, I'm guessing its not your average hunter either.

Another snap on the other side of the path makes my head whip in that direction. Whoever it is, they're not alone.

"Get in a circle and get the kids in the middle" Niall says suddenly, shuffling our twins towards all of the adults.

Unfortunately, as soon as he moves, the first bullet fires, narrowly missing his heart, finding purchase in his shoulder instead.

I cry out to my now bleeding husband as our entire group erupts in chaos. We have no idea where or how many hunter there are, and no one knows what to do.

We get all of the children protected within the wall of adults as we try to figure out where the hunters are lurking.

While I look around, I notice the girl who fell over the trap still sitting on the ground in shock. She's young and looks to be not much younger than Shannon.

She seems to snap out of her daze when another bullet is fired from a different angle, grazing Harry's face. As he yells in pain, I watch as the girl looks around confusedly for a moment, until she spots our group.

It seems like the hunters are not paying any attention to her, and I'm about to tell her to stay where she is, but she scrambles to her feet.

As soon as she goes to take a first step, I hear an arrow whiz by my ear. I scream in horror as the arrow goes straight through the young girls neck. The girl drops to the ground with a thump, dead.

From within the group, I hear an unfamiliar voice. "Phoenix no!" The wolf boy shouts in a pained voice.

He tries to struggle free to get to his friend, but Shannon holds him back. "You can't go out there, you'll be killed too" she soothes the frantic boy.

I catch a glimpse of his black hair and realize that it's the one she was with back at the prison compound.

"Everyone run on three!" Liam (older Liam) shouts.

Before he can say anything else, a silver bullet flies out from yet another angle and hits Perrie in the leg.

"THREE!!" Screams Louis and we all take off in different directions. I can't think of how poorly this plan is because I'm too busy running for my life.
