N I A L L

"So, how was your day at your new school?" My dad, Bobby, asked me during dinner that night.
I slowly chewed my food as I thought about my day before answering. "It was great actually, a lot better than I thought it would be at least. I already made five friends; Louis, Liam, Sophia, Harry, and Danielle, and they're great. I have Louis in all my classes except last hour, but I'm still happy. Harry is in my last hour, but that's just as good. Liam, Sophia, and Danielle are kind of spread out though. All in all, my day was perfect."
Bobby and Maura both smiled at me and congratulated me, then engaged into their own conversation. Occasionally, I would talk here and there, but I mainly stayed silent, though I didn't mind.
Soon, dinner was done and I got up and helped my mom with the dishes. Ever since I was 8, it was always a thing we would do together. Maura would wash and rinse, while I would dry and put the dishes away. Even though it was chore, which most kids hated, I loved it. I loved having alone time with my mom. The two of us would talk about anything and everything. From what I see on Twitter, to what Maura likes on a pizza. We sometimes have the radio playing on low, so we would occasionally sing and dance along. To some, it might seem strange that a 17 year old boy would want to spend most of his nights talking to his mom, but to me, it meant the world.
After the dishes were done, which took almost three hours because all of our talking, singing, and a mini water fight, I headed up to my room to take a shower and head to bed.
...
It was now Tuesday and, for some odd reason, I had woken up in a really good mood. I could just tell today would be a good day. Well, at least I hoped.
I had taken a quick shower and was now buttoning the collar of my shirt when I heard Maura call from the other side of my bedroom door. "Breakfast is ready sweetie. I made your favorite." Then she left and headed downstairs, back to the kitchen. See what I was talking about? It was only the beginning of the day and it was already going good.
I looked at my hair and noticed that the blonde was fading away and showing my brown roots a lot more, making me sigh. I'd have to dye my hair sometime soon.
There was a small skip in my step as I made down stairs and into the kitchen. I gave Maura a kiss on her cheek, then sat down at the table where my breakfast was waiting for me.
Homemade chocolate chip pancakes.
My mouth watered just looking at them, so I wasted no time digging right in. It didn't take me very long to finish, as I was pretty hungry anyways.
"Alright, c'mon baby, time to go." Maura said, putting her coffee cup into the sink. I nodded and finished off the rest of my milk. When I was done, I put the dishes into the sink and went to the front door to put my shoes on.
"Also," Maura said getting her car keys off the hook by the door, "I'm going shopping after I drop you off. Do you need or want anything?"
I tied my shoes while in thought. Did I really want anything? Not really, but I did need something. "Can you pick me up some blonde hair dye? I might dye my hair tonight or some time soon." Maura nodded and I grabbed my backpack and headed out the door.
...
"It's about time you showed up." Louis said, clapping his hand down onto my shoulder. I gave Louis a smile, but ignored what he said. I knew that I wasn't late. Class didn't start until 8:45 and right now it was 8:20. If anything, Louis was just extremely early, whereas I came at a reasonable time.
