Madeleine McCann

The disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

Maddy disappeared in the early evenings of May 3rd 2007. She disappeared from her bed, on holiday, in Praia Da Luz, a resort in Portugal. This is known as the most "heavily reported missing-person case in modern case." Her where about remain unknown.

Her mother is Kate McCann and her father is Gerry McCann, both doctors who lived in the UK. Maddy had blonde hair and blue/green eyes, with a spot in the left one. She was born on the 12th May, 2003, so she would be missing for 12 years.

Madeleine McCann was on holiday from the UK with her parents, her two year old twin siblings, family friends and their children. Her and her twin siblings were left in the apartment to sleep at 20:30 on the ground floor apartment, whilst the McCanns and friends went to a bar 55 metres away. The parents took it in turn to check on the children, until her mother discovered that Maddy was missing at 10 o'clock. Over the following weeks, the Portuguese police had thought that Maddy died in the apartment and that Kate and Gerry covered it up, but they soon stopped blaming them when they did not have enough evidence to support there statement.

The McCanns continued to investigate using private detectives. The senior investigator said he was treating this as "a criminal act by a stranger", most likely a planned abduction or burglary gone wrong.

The disappearance led to people thinking it was the McCanns as there was blood found in the trunk of the car they were renting. When the DNA results came back, it wasn't Maddys and they just thought it was one of the twins who cut themselves.

The McCanns set up a fund to look for her, still to this day do they get money from people around the world. They have used it for a number of things. Holidays, a house, lawyers. All this money was raised for Maddy, yet spent on there own needs.

No one has found her and she is most likely dead, or she doesn't know who herself is, and is still out there. She would be 15 as of today ( 12th March 2019 ).
