"WHAT?!" JJ yelled. "I THOUGHT YOU WEREN'T KILLING US!!"
"JJ..." Micahleah said.
"WHAT DO YOU WANT?!"
"They aren't wanting to kill us," Micahleah said calmly. "They want us to figure this out. They're playing with us, testing us, really."
"Wait, how do you know this?" Marely asked suspiciously.
"I've got younger siblings, you know," Micahleah answered. "They used to do this all the time with me. Now anyway, what is it about this piece of candy that they want us to figure out?"
JJ opened the wrapper and grabbed each end, pulling it apart as he did so. He sniffed the candy, and he suddenly understood. "It's poisoned."
"What?" Marely said.
"This candy, it's been poisoned," JJ repeated. "Well, drugged. It smells like a roofie, and a really strong one at that. I know this smell because Maralyssa and I used to use this stuff a lot so we could use humans easier."
Just as he said this, the door opened. They all ran out of the door and sat in the hall, wondering what that piece of candy was doing in a jar of dirt. Moreover, what the jar was doing in such an empty room. Suddenly, he had a plan (sort of).
He dialed up Maralyssa, and when she answered, he said, "Hey! Can you believe I'm still alive?"
"Uh, not particularly," Maralyssa said slowly. "How are you not dead yet?"
"I'll tell you later, but I've got a question," JJ replied. "Do you remember that one guy who tried to kill us up at that one place in Arkansas that one time?"
"You mean that drug dealer we knocked out with—"
"Yes, that's the one! What was that stuff we used called?"
"Uh, chloroform?"
"No, you're thinking of the wrong drug dealer."
"Oh, him! Essence of belladonna. But that caused him to die, JJ!"
"Doesn't matter! I got all the information I need. If I need you again, I'll call."
"Well, don't call too often. My parents and sister are asleep right now."
"Asleep? It's the middle of the day."
"No, it's 1:11 am. Where in the world are you?"
"I hope it's in the world. Anyway, call me when it's morning, okay?"
"Whatever."
"Ok, thanks, voodoo doll. Love you."
"Same. Bye." She hung up. JJ smiled, liking that he was getting somewhere.
"What was all that about?" Marely asked.
"Oh, you'll see," JJ said excitedly.
Micahleah and Marely looked at him with confusion in their eyes.
"HEY!" he called out. "Where's the bathroom?"
Immediately after he finished his question, there was giggling coming from a ways off. JJ followed the giggling, and Micahleah and Marely followed JJ. When JJ reached the source of the giggling, he found himself in a bathroom. The bathroom...
JJ walked around and knocked into something. He looked to see what it was and saw nothing. He felt around, but couldn't find this invisible thing.
He looked up and saw himself surrounded by small children. Micahleah and Marely were behind JJ, fear shining in their eyes. JJ took a small step towards the children. They didn't do anything besides watch. They each had various injuries, from broken necks to missing eyes, and one of them was even being carried by four kids because the poor guy didn't have any arms or legs. JJ felt tears leave his eyes. He turned to see Micahleah and Marely crying as well.
One of the kids stepped forward.
"How...did he do this to you?" JJ managed to say.
The children gave him an eerie smile. "Caaaaandy."
