Butch made it just fine. He found a small creek on the way and gulped down as much water as he could. The horse also was glad for the water before they set off again. He remembered how the gang had really made this place alive. It felt lonely and empty without them. They were the closest thing to family he had ever had. They were brothers to him. The sun was setting and Butch knew it wasn't really safe to do much out here at night. So he tried to make himself at home the best he could. He thought about the ranger and red. He was angry that she turned him in but couldn't really blame her. He knew he wasn't the kindest man. With that thought he fell asleep.
He awoke to the sounds of gunshots ringing through the air. Yells and cry's rang through the canyon. He dared not to move and give away his position. He heard a finally yell and shot. Then silence. After a while he figured it was safe to move. He got up and walked to the edge. He saw a man laying face down in the dirt. He looked rich but who knew. Butch scrambled down to take a look. He found a flask and gun. Not too bad for a search. The flask was mostly empty and the gun only had two bullets left in it. He saw no one else but didn't care. He got back up and drank what was left in the flask. He didn't know what to do now. He was still an outlaw and would die an outlaw. He figured getting a gang together again wouldn't be an awful start. It would at least earn him something to eat. There was no where safe for him to go. Everyone knew him and knew his face. Suddenly he heard a horse in the distance. Galloping quickly towards him. He peered over the edge and saw a single rider. A middle aged man with many provisions with him. Butch hopped down again to set up an ambush. As if the man knew he was there he dismounted his horse and began walking up. When the rider got close, he stepped out of a shadow and stuck his gun in the mans face. "Give me everything you have" said butch with a snarl. The man didn't jump or even change expression.
"Butch Cavendish. I figured I would find you in these parts." Said the man.
"Who are you?" Said Butch taken aback at the mans composure.
"Just man trying to make some money." He said with a sly smile. Butch saw the glint of a gun and immediately pulled the trigger.
"I knew what you were up to but I will gladly take what you have." Butch said eyeing the horse. He walked carefully and calmly towards the beautiful creature. He took everything from him. He had food and water among a needle to help wounds. He took his new bounty to his hide away. Ate some food and stitched himself up the best he could. Too bad that man had no whiskey.
