Chapter 1 - the Unexpected DeliveryIt was a sunny morning, it wasn't too hot but perfect weather. The sun shone with glee by the window. It's light glimmered and crept inside the room where the Demon king woke up from his slumber.
"Good morning," Arnold said with a yawn. Not in a mood to talk, too sleepy to function yet.
He stretched his arms and muscles, bulging and contracting. He yawned again lazily.
Rosalind, The demon Kings personal maid. Took the lid off the breakfast tray and Arnold started eating right away. Not caring about his mannerism in the slightest. It was too early for that. His face was stoic and soft from the slumber he woke.
Rosalind stood at the side of the table and his King. Waiting for the king to finish, she was ready to dictate the schedule for today as routine.
Rosalind did not only function as a maid, though she may dress like one, with the uniform and the rags. She also served as an assistant. Helping Arnold from his shoelaces to his Social work. She even sometimes has the honours to organize and host events for the Demon King. For small things like this should not distract him. The Demon King in return trusted the hybrid maiden. She was a mix of a demon and a faerie. She earned his trust on many occasions, nevertheless his blood ties. She never once tried to sabotage or break his trust towards her. That's why he took her as an assistant even when the nobles looked down at the idea.
"The agenda for today, My king. You have a meeting with the northern Warriors. To discuss the problem in the borders of the northern territory. And you have a planned inspection in the Catjolic Farming grounds. in the reports, it says that they are ready for harvest. A noble at the afternoon is here to see you, to discuss interest and budget for a festival. And last is..." Rosalind trails the list, but the last one a bit out of sorts. It was weird how they put it on the agenda. Usually, they have a trusted counsel of the crown to handle it, she thought.
"What is it?"
Rosalind jumps and lifts her head to her list, looking at his king. Already finished with his meals, the cup empty and the plate clean. Rosalind hurries to clean up after her king. The king now awake, wiping his mouth with a napkin.
"Oh, it's nothing. But it's weird how they put this in here." She says.
"What's it about?" Taking interest in at the last one.
"Oh, it says there was a delivery sent for you. But it wasn't signed. No one knows who it came from. It arrived without a prior schedule."
Arnold's face contorts to confusion and he strokes his stubbled chin, thinking.
A delivery? Is it from his enemies again? He thought, Now eager and curious on what it is. He could only think that something like a rebel or an enemy fleet wants to sabotage him with a delivery. But that was very rare. His armies are the worlds leading warriors. Defeating many species they encounter at the battlefield. He was proud to say it, his family and his country now hold such a title because of his hard labour.
"Did they open it? What did it contain?"
"No, not yet. They want you to handle the matter. It says here it moves at times since it came at midnight." She says. Rosalind looks at the reports. The report was such a jumble of handwriting, the person writing must have been eager to finish it.
Arnold held his hand out to Rosalind and she gave the Report along with the others. Arnold scans the reports more. Reading each hastily written word at a slow pace. After another, he flips the papers and focus' on it, Face in concentration. Rosalind looks with expectancy and waits in patience.
